As a regular of the Irish Pub in my hometown before moving to the Oskaloosa area, I was very excited to visit Bridget's Public House for the first time. I'm sad to say that our experience was very underwhelming.
The Dublin Dipper appetizer of beer cheese arrived in a cute miniature cast iron dutch oven, that was super hot, but the food inside was luke warm at best. With nowhere near enough pretzels and soda bread to serve 2 people.
When trying the mac and cheese, it was served in a similar unseasoned cast iron pot. All of the sauce was in the center with dry uncoated noodles around the edge, The temp was also luke warm.
The mashed potatoes were ehh, the fries were soft and flavorless, and the homemade ranch was chunky and had way too much onion.
The drink menu consisted of bottled and draft offerings stating they had whiskey but was lacking any cocktails or even which liquors were available for those dining at the tables out of view of the bar shelves.
The bright flourescent office lighting detered from the pub atmosphere, and gave a more cafeteria feel. The whole setup felt very temporary with artwork leaning against walls rather than mounted, as if the proprietor doesn't have faith in...
Read moreTook over an hour to get our food, and only after I complained. Ordered 2 appetizers that came after our food, and it was cold. Kitchen manager said she would comp the appetizers. Owner refused to honor that and we got charged for both of them. Owner was very rude. I ordered the ruben and it came with almost no saurkraut. A friend ordered fried cabbage with bacon and got raw cabbage with bacon in it. Ordered a to go BLT with mayo and ranch on the side. He order came without either. I had to go ask for them and was given the mayo, but was told that they never made the ranch for the day. Waitress didn't come over one time to refresh drinks. Had to ask for those when food finally got served. Two hours of pure aggravation. A simply awful experience! I hope no one eats here. Everyone kept making the excuse that they had only been open for two weeks, and if they last two more, it will be far too long. An absolutely...
Read moreI’m guessing the people who highly recommend this place are Musco higher ups & have to praise it to make Musco look good? Sound about right? Not authentic Irish anything. This literally was Applebee’s freezer food with an Irish title. Food was, again, freezer junk. Vankamp’s freezer battered fish filets are better. Service was nonexistent & the atmosphere might have well been a coffee shop vibe. As a person who tips quite well because that’s part of the waitstaff’s pay and never want to see them fail, I didn’t tip. Server did not come check drinks once, we had to flag her down as she stood at the counter (it wasn’t busy). Server didn’t try to engage at all & felt like she didn’t want to be there. Literally the worst restaurant I have ever been too. This was not Irish food and not worth paying for. Also, if soda bread takes so long to make you should be making it ahead of time or take it off the dinner menu. PO Box &...
