Chuong Garden — Restaurant in Oskaloosa

Average Chinese food place. Give high stars for service, called and placed order, was hot and ready on time. Can't speak to atmosphere, didn't eat in, but seemed pretty average for a midwest restaurant.

The food... average at best, for a Chinese place. Ordered the Chicken Pan fried Noodles, and it was... fine. Nothing special about it, slivers of chicken and veggies over a bed of noodles, mild sauce mixed in. Hot temperature, fine, but nothing flavorful jumped at us.

Also got the schezwan chicken, which is listed on the menu as spicy (little pepper). it's a sliced chicken, not battered like some places will do, mixed with veggies and a thick sauce mixed in.

Spicy? Maybe for Iowa it's spicy, but not for me. If you consider ketchup to be exotic, and you think mustard is spicy, then yeah, this might be spicy. I suspect there might have been a chili pepper in the kitchen somewhere as they made this, but no spice or heat made it into the actual dish itself. Which is too bad, the entire reason I ordered it was because it was listed as spicy. But it's not, so... if you fear spicy foods, try this, you'll like it.

We will probably try it again, and see if they have anything with a it more flavor to it, but for now, it's a nice place to get piping hot, midwest average...

I met there with my friend and her son. I never received my food at all which was insanely infuriating. even after reminding and asking the waitress that was super annoyed when I asked. I ended up eating a few bites off my friend's plate and the food was really good. Oh I also had to bring our glasses to the counter to get refills. I really wish my experience was different. I want to like this place but after waiting for ages a (what I think was manager gal) walked by i said hi so they are rescy to go and I never got my food so I'm going to cancel it. she said oh yes sorry we are short handed.... um ok. still doesn't justify the God awful service, horrid waitress that acted so rude, never receiving my food, having to take our drinks up to the counter to get refills. the whole experience was a nightmare. i ended up getting my daughter and I McDonalds on the way home...

I would like to still try it again some time if things improve. they didn't even offer to right the wrong either.. just...

My friend and I stopped in to get take out. It was our first time her and we were so happy we found this place. The lady that took our to go orders was so kind, inviting, and thoughtful. She boxed it so well for us for the drive home. She seemed concerned that the food wouldn't be as good since we had to wait an hour or so to eat it. It was endearing that she wanted the food to be at its best for us. Well she didn't need to worry. It was the best Chinese food I have had in a very long time. Everything was so flavorful and I could tell that they took great care in the preparation. It seems that is lacking with so many places but there were no corners cut here. I can't say enough good things about this. I will return every chance I get....
