Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Ottawa

It's fast food, not filet mignon, lobster, and caviar, but it's better than McD's, BK, HarD's, and most other fast food restaurants. Their ice cream, and especially their Blizzards, is better than other fast-food joints. One that comes to mind is another fast-food restaurant that has a poorly executed knockoff of the Blizzard. Just because you copy the idea of a Blizzard and call it a Blast does not make the imitation Blizzard an actual blast.

The girl who took my order was great! Super helpful, seemed like she would bend over backwards for the customer, and truly had the mindset of enjoying her job... or she was flirting. Either way, I was much happier when I left than when I got there. So yeah she got a tip.

I was the only customer inside so the atmosphere was calm and quiet. Introverts would like it. I know I enjoy not having to shout for my order to be heard (Chipotle comes to mind). 4 stars for the atmosphere since some people enjoy the loud chaos rather than calmly speaking and having a short but enjoyable one-on-one chat with the human being taking my order. Went there march 19th 2024. As soon as we entered the establishment, we were met with yelling. We found a seat and placed our items down and went up to order. A few moments later we were met with Allie, the manager, yelling at us to grab our phones or else she would put them in the lost and found. We grabbed them and luckily nobody took our seats. When we were able to sit back down Allie was standing next to mine and another table. I don’t know if she was talking to us or the whole place but she kept repeating that is was “a very nice day out” and that “we could eat at/ go to Kanza park” one of my friends said something and we laughed and she then said that “it was private property” and that “she could kick us out at anytime.” She was being very disrespectful to anyone that looks under the age of 65. I understood that it was busy but she did NOT have to yell at us and be disrespectful. She was being extra disrespectful to mine and my friends table. We are all either black or Mexican and I had no reason to believe that she wasn’t being racially motivated. And she was arguing with many of the children for no reason....

I don't normally complain about places because I know things are not always perfect but...Sorry. Be a while before I go back. Order taker was somewhat rude because I didn't know exactly what I wanted and was asking a few questions. Service was anything but fast. Ordered cheese curds with Ranch. Instead they gave me ketchup. Drove around to drIve-in side with my lunch to park and eat. Couldn't get out. of parking lot because people goIng thru drive thru were too far away from the building thereby taking up the right hand lane for people trying to leave the parking lot. Once I got backed out I actually had to sit in the order line again until it turned around the back of the building toward the menu/speaker before I could get around them to leave the parking lot. Ridiculous layout. There are actually parking lines right where the drive thru cars have to drive over to get to the ordering/menu board. I don't go to Ottawa often but won't stop there for lunch again. Chicken sandwich...
