Marge's Diner - Ottertail — Restaurant in Ottertail

The restaurant was very chaotic even with only half the tables full. The coffee was absolutely awful, and they must have grabbed our first cups from an old pot. We dumped those and the carafe was normally bad, not extra bad. Basically tastes like they haven't cleaned the bunn coffee makers in a dozen years. Stale, weak...gross. Flies everywhere. Food was ok. I had the hangover hash browns and they were undercooked. Browned on the outside but 100% uncooked mush in the middle. Peppers and onions were mush. Cheese sauce used a bechamel type cheese sauce and it was not well done as you could still taste the flour. Sauce was rushed. Service was super slow and restaurant should consider adjusting the amount of seating and location of seating for more efficient flow, and to accommodate only as many tables as they can reasonably serve in an hour. I admittedly told the server food was fine because I didn't feel like running through the laundry list of things that just weren't done right. Gotta get the place clean, gotta use fresh ingredients, and gotta teach the kitchen staff how to cook - they're almost there but missing some critical touches. We'll be back, maybe as soon as labor day and I'll update the review...

We had a nice little breakfast here one Saturday morning. All of the food was pretty good, medium portions. The staff were very friendly and forgot one item on our order, but that really wasn't a problem because our waitress and cook made sure to get it out pronto and took it off our bill for the inconvenience. Very nice folks, much nicer than the last owner. I was a bit annoyed when the bill came as every item was about $2.50 more than it showed on the menu. The service was friendly, quick, and we got seated right away. Food was phenomenal, (especially if you like diner food) we got breakfast and everyone was happy with what they ordered. Put 4 stars for atmosphere only because it felt a little cramped with the hallway and spacing. The decor is outdated and walls are cluttered, but it kinda felt like it adds to the appeal of the place.
