Scooter's Coffee — Restaurant in Ottumwa

Came through the drive thru to purchase a sugar free hazelnut latte. I’m diabetic, I was given a full sugar drink.

The District manager attempted to claim that her business was not responsible for completely destroying 2 years of work on my diabetes by stating that I didn’t “order skim milk” so “they didn’t know I was diabetic”. She also informed us that they had “reprinted the receipt” and “he didn’t ask for skim” which was confusing, as skim milk and full fat milk contain roughly the same amount of carbs? (Diabetes lesson: type 2 diabetics who are not on medication must stay in a precise range of Carbohydrates in a day. No more, and no less. Low blood sugar and high blood sugar are both very risky.)

Im off of medication management, have been for a year. I achieved this by being very precise about my carb intake. This could ruin all of that. This could put me in the ER. I won’t know for a few hours, and I’m so unbelievably upset.

Let’s try harder not to kill our customers, and let’s also not attempt to blame them for issues that we should never have allowed to happen.

Scooters has some of the best coffee around! My favorite happens to be the large mocha espresso blender! I especially like when they send coupons in the mail and you get $2 off or you get a free drink or you get a small one for free or a large or a meeting for half price!
