La Nueva Taqueria is my favorite authentic restaurant for Mexican food (Ala Jalisco, Mexico. It's self-service meaning you order at the counter, and they call your number when your food is ready to go to the counter for pick up. The food is wonderful, and there are plenty of alternate protein choices that are distinctly Mexican (lengua, cachete, tripa, and suadera. They have a full service bar! They have a very nice fixings bar; they have tacos, burritos, tortas,, quesadillas and nacho plates. I'm gluten-free and I've not had any problems consuming their nachos, tacos, or quesa birria tacos. They are also friendly towards gringas, like myself-- they will call your ticket number in both Spanish and English. The only things keeping this place away from 5 stars are the following: The windows are FILTHY-- you can't see it so much from the outside because there is reflective film, but from the inside they are cloudy and dirty. I've been coming here for 2 years, and in all this time, the windows have never been cleaned. Things are dusty in the dining area--like the light fixtures, and everything up high. The furniture is super old, scratched and very tired looking. Lastly, the bathrooms are kind of disgusting. The stalls themselves are not too bad, but the sink area is pretty bad. With as much money as this place is bringing in, and them ALWAYS being busy, I think the owners should invest in these bad items to have the atmosphere and cleanliness match the tastiness...
Read moreFirst time trying this place out tonight! I wanted some birria tacos and usually go this place in Grandview however they’ve recently gone up to $4 a taco and it’s disappointing so I gave this spot a try. I place a to-go order via phone the person who took my order was very friendly and explained the difference in tacos to me I appreciated that so that their was no confusion. They said 12-15 mins it would be ready. I arrived for my order the guy who handed me my to go was very friendly and upbeat and knew exactly who I was from my order. He asked if I needed extra sauce and handed me my bag I told him I would let him know what I think. The food: I love all the extra stuff they give you the onions and pepper, cilantro and lime and radishes. Nice touch! The tacos had a nice amount of meat inside, I like that they aren’t charging extra to add cheese and so on the meat was good great not too tough. The only thing that knocks my review to a 4 star is FLAVOR, the flavor was definitely missing it, the broth for the birra tacos had no flavor and neither did the tacos. The verde and hot sauce which is BOMB made up for it but I would have liked to see more flavor in the meat and broth. I’ll be back and give something else a...
Read moreMy friend and I came in to get some tacos and try it for the first time as we both do not live in this area and when I asked the young lady taking our order if she could just change her order to to go, it seem like she was having a hard time wanting to do that. She was working with an AirPod in her ear, not very focused And seem to change her demeanor when I didn’t leave her a tip. As for the two cooks they were also extremely rude. I asked for extra sauce like I said it was me and my friend’s first time so we were really unsure how things were gonna work but we ended up getting confused because they had sauce containers with no lids. We had questions that were valid like can I have some sauce? Do you guys have lids and I asked them for extra foil so I could put my cilantro, onion and lime and something and they seem to be extremely annoyed and rude and acted like it was too much effort to get me some sauce yet they look for a tip and I wasn’t even sitting down in dining. I definitely won’t be back here. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anybody. Very poor attitude. I’m sure the owner is just like the workers because everyone I came across was low effort, rude, and had no...
