I ordered some food to go, from Chimis, on Woodson road, on Sunday, January 19th, 2014. I went to pick up, had to wait a few, but I was fine with that. After they bring out the food, I pay, and have the Manager try to rip me off for $10 cash. Food was $9. I gave him a $20, and he says Thanks, and hands me a dollar. I say, "No, that was a 20." He says, "I know, I was just checking on you." Personally, I do believe that he was trying to keep my Money. If I had turned around and left, I don't think he would have said a word, and my $10 would have went straight into his pocket. But anyway, I get back home and realize that half of my food is missing. I call back, and the manager tells me to bring it all back, and they will replace it, and give me a coupon. I'm fine with that. So I bring the food back up there. They go in the back, come out with the same bag I had. Little did I know, they just added some of the food that they had shorted me, and didn't replace the old, original half. In addition, the Manager lied about a coupon. He refused to give me a coupon, a refund, and also didn't even replace the food. So I get back home, and realize that I am still missing some food, and half the order is now very old, and cold. So then I call Chimis back again. This time the manager tells me to bring all the food back again, and then he will give me a refund, and that's it. I'm supposed to be happy that I went up there three times, all just to get a refund!!!! And this is the managers idea of service???? I told him that I am going to call the better business bureau, and he doesn't care. He tells me, if that's what I want to do, then go ahead and do it. However, I did ask him his name twice, but he refuses to give it to me. He's an older white guy, who sits by the front door most of the time. He should be fired!!! I will NEVER go back, as long as he is employed there. And that's a shame, seeing how myself, and my girlfriend really like the food. We used to eat there on a weekly basis, and live close by. But this is the second incident of terrible customer service, by this same manager, and He has single handedly run off our business. Read moreThings didn't start out well as we had called the day before and made a reservation for 17 at 11am (when they open). We arrived at 11:05am and had to knock on the door to get someone to open it. The staff was not aware of the reservation and the manager who apparently/likely took the reservation didn't arrive until 2pm. Not a big deal. They had room for us and did what they could to get set up quickly for us. Staff was attentive, but the drop in stars is for the manager not putting the staff in a place to succeed. It was mothers day and the place was full, but they only had two servers who were working frantically to keep up with ours and several other large parties. Service needs better planning. Also, service made a couple mistakes with our order. They fixed them, but wrong food was delivered to our table and a couple of things we ordered were delivered incorrectly. Like I had ordered two enchilada dinner and was served (and charged) for a 3 enchilada dinner. Not the end of the world as I know we had a big group and they were overword. I actually tipped the servers an extra $20 cash on top of the automatic included large party tip because I knew how hard they were working.
The food is nothing special. They do offer a nice variety of vegetarian options however the food itself is fairly bland. The beans aren't seasoned well and the sauces are lacking flavor. The cheese that they use for the enchiladas tastes kind of like a processed cheese instead of good quality chiuaha.
The desserts were ok. The sopapillas were low on cinammon and same w/ the fried ice cream. The churros were quite good.
Outside of that, there's honestly nothing special about this place. They say they are "Fresh-Mex" but when we asked if we could get beans or onions added inside the enchiladas, we were told that we could not as they were pre-prepped. We were there at 11am when they opened. That means these were "prepped" at least the night before. That's not really "Fresh-Mex"
I didn't really find anything at this place to be "fresh" it was all prepped and reheated food. I wouldn't recommend this place as it is not what it bills itself to be "Fresh-Mex"? I think not....
Read morePlaced and order for: 1 large salsa 1 large cheese dip 1 extra bag of chips 1 side of rice 4 shrimp soft tacos 7 chicken soft tacos "OSCAR" took the order over the phone, we had to repeat the order to him several times before "OSCAR" CONFIRMED he had our order correct regarding the items listed above. Total came to $81.00 and some change. Picked up order, got home, found no large salsa, and 4 soft chicken tacos missing. Called back up to Chimi's in Overland. Spoke to "OSCAR" again, he apologized and stated he will put the order into the kitchen, and it would be ready in 10 minutes. at this point additional payment was never talked about. I went back up to Chimi's in Overland with the original reciept, spoke with"OSCAR". He then stated that there will be additional charges for the food that we were ALREADY charged for, and that he made an error and forgot the send the entire order to the kitchen. I spoke with 3 people in person while at Chimi's in Overland, all 3 were polite but were no help. They could not see that an ERROR was made on thier end, and that it was/is not correct to charge me again for THIER error. I spoke with the manager over the phone, she also agreed with the employee(s) and stated that I should have to pay for his ERROR. I go to Chimi's in Over land often, usually great food and service, but I am left very dis satisfied after this visit. to make a long story short here is what happened. I order food via phone. the order was confirmed via phone. I did not recieve ALL the items that were CONFIRMED/PAID FOR I returned to get ALL the items that were previously CONFIRMED/PAID FOR I was then charged to complete my original order.
