Woofies hot dogs is a small hot dog Diner type of stand. It does have outdoor seating on concrete bench tables. I have been an off-and-on long-time customer. My first time was when I was 5 years old. For many years it was one of the best places to go. Unfortunately the original owner sold it some years back I've only been there 4 times since it changed ownership. I think today was my last day that I will ever go there again which is quite sad considering all the years of cherished memories I once had for this place. The food has really gone downhill my favorite has always been the cheese fries I ordered that today along with the original Wolfie dog everything on it and a Cherry Coke always my favorite. The only thing I liked was the soda. For some reason they changed the cheese sauce now it's completely gross very sad very unhappy very dissatisfied. They put so much of their secret seasoned salt on the fries it would have been enough to season an entire batch. Kind of shocking to have to say that I took one bite of my wolfy dog, two fries that had the cheese sauce on it and I threw it away because it was actually that terrible. What a waste of money. Sorry they change things to the point that they've lost a very long...
Read moreVisiting from Atlanta, I stopped in at this little spot on Woodson Road and it did not disappoint. The building itself is colorful and hard to miss, with the Vienna Beef sign proudly up front—so you already know the hot dogs are going to be legit. I ordered a Chicago-style dog and it came out exactly how it should: poppy seed bun, loaded with onions, sport peppers, tomato, and a big crunchy pickle spear. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. No ketchup in sight (as it should be).
Also tried the burger and fries—burger was juicy with that classic griddled flavor, and the fries were hot and crispy, served in a generous portion. They even hit that sweet spot where the fries stay crisp under ketchup. Overall, this place gives you everything you want from a true hot dog and burger stand: quick service, affordable prices, and quality food that tastes homemade but with that old-school Chicago stand character. If you’re craving a real Chicago dog or just a solid burger and fries, this spot is worth the stop.
They do offer a military discount...
Read moreThe over all experience was disappointing. This was my first and last time ordering from here. I went because I heard good things about the place. I just wanted a simple dog with ketchup and onions. He ordered chili dogs and fries. When I walked in there were two other groups still waiting on their food. We order ours and they get it wrong all over the place. They missed part of the order and once the dogs were packed for us to leave, thats when they decided it was time to drop the fries. One group in front of us mentioned they had been waiting for 35 mins already. The service was so slow, the employees were not wearing gloves or hair nets and two of the women had very long hair. Unsanitary. Could even see how dirty the floor was, the red and yellow checkered pattern was covered in grey dirt. So after finally getting our food and getting home, luckily the food was still warm, it was gross. Was like eating a bigger version of the cheapest hot dog in the market. They didnt even mention they put their dogs on poppyseed buns. I will never...
