Bubbakoo's Burritos — Restaurant in Oxford

Man, I wanted to love this place so bad. I recently visited and noted 3 things that would make me never return.

My order was overlooked. While I would normally not have made a review for this, the way in which it was handled made me extremely uncomfortable.

You pay before you receive your food. 3 burritos and a cheese kids quesadilla came to more than $65. When my order didn't come out after waiting for 15 minutes, I asked the cashier who responded that she was certain that she gave me my food. I assured them I didn't receive anything. She then stated I didn't pay. This became so uncomfortable that one of the line prep's shouted "stop arguing and make her the burritos". It was 7pm and there were about 10 people working.

The owner/manager said nothing other than "start pre-cleaning so I don't have to be here all night" as a loud announcement to the entire establishment as I waited along 2 other families.

The burritos were fine. However my family of 5 felt rushed to eat after this, and it was extremely uncomfortable. With team members cleaning around us, I was shocked of the level of customer service.

The 3 star food review was in reference to the quality in which these are made for the price you pay. They are fine, nothing great about it. They're packed with mostly rice and very little meat or sauce (garlic burrito). The checkout requires a tip (I couldn't find an option to skip) which brings the price to that of a sit down restaurant in the area. For the amount of time I waited for the employees to finish their breaks so we could use a table, the customer service, the taste and the price I would not recommend this...

This was my first time going to one of these and I really didn’t know what to think before going in as the name is kind of goofy. When we entered though, everything was nice and clean and were welcomed right away, even though they were pretty well hopping busy. Being busy worked well for us because we had a chance to look over the menu and decide what we wanted. I decided on the carnitas nachos and my wife got the Nashville hot loaded curly fries. Again, everyone working down the counter was very friendly.

We got our food and grabbed a table and started eating. We were pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. I decided to try the ghost pepper sauce on the nachos, but expected it to be toned down pretty good like most “ghost pepper” sauces seemed to be. This had a surprisingly nice kick to it with a nice flavor. The portion sizes are also generous and we both were just barely able to pack away all of the food.

Just as we were finishing up, one of the staff members came up and asked how we liked everything and made sure everything was ok. How friendly everyone was there was a nice change of pace from how a lot of places are nowadays with everyone just going through the motions. They genuinely seemed to want to make sure you were happy with everything.

My first experience was not as great, although for my second visit y'all redeemed everything up & beyond expectations!- Via the online ordering for the "wing Wednesday" online/in house at first looking via online ordering did not give option for "blue cheese" so did an online burrito order, trying various sauces upon side we have yet to try, so my hubby decided to try the wing Wednesday special upon pick up, we got blue cheese as side- once getting home to try our burritos, with now the wing special for this month, my hubby chose the boneless Buffalo Wings with side of house Blue Cheese, he absolutely LOVED IT- claimed it to so far be the BEST blue cheese side with any type of "buffalo" wing to be the absolute BEST - thankfully to adding side sauces to try, I myself figured out what will be my newest found and BEST burrito, as well as my hubby he absolutely loved his chosen burrito with trial side sauce, yet devoured his boneless wings literally licking the 4oz given Blue Cheese dipping sauce side clean! myself first experience was not so great yet with management reaching out requesting a come back, we could not be happier and clearly know why all the rants & raves vs various competitors, Thanks for a wonderful meal BubbaKoo's of Oxford CT!!
