Maki Plus — Restaurant in Oxnard

I just left Maki Plus it's been a while since I've been here not because of service just kids graduated from high school so it's out of the way but I know I'll have to make a trip at least every other month on treat myself days remember why I liked it service great and food delicious to add to it my daughter noticed an appetizer they have called the SUSHI PIE we got it and let's just say I don't do reviews but here I am I wish I didn't have to share with her the most amazing flavors in my mouth the world must no it's a sin not to. The chief on Thursday nights is great we sat at the bar and he took our order without pressure and was totally alert when I made my request even the next one 5 minutes later without repeating myself even though he was on the other side of the bar unlike people standing right next to me. I came here and purchased a spicy tuna roll & California roll. I was served a spicy tuna roll with SPOILED spicy tuna. The smell and taste of spoiled fish is something I do not wish you experience. That's unfortunately not all sadly. The service here is not great, the old lady working there treats you like you are inconveniencing her. The restaurant is not cleaned after promptly as the tables are covered with dirty dishes and utensils. It takes a long while for your order to be done. They are also stingy with utensils, sauces, and napkins. You have to ask for them, and when you do the lady there again looks highly irritated with you. The California roll only had a paper thin smear of avocado on it. I am so disappointed and I hope I don't get sick from this place. I was just trying to support a local business but will never be...

Beef short ribs was $26, 44% ($8) higher than the menu price. I know times are tough but that was just robbery when you don’t forewarn the customer. They had a message on the QR code menu on the window but I was dining in and using the in-restaurant laminated menu. My friend’s lunch bill was a few dollars more than advertised and if mine was that that, that would’ve been forgivable.

I was a regular here for years before I left the area in 2014. Even though it’s out of the way from work, I was planning to go regularly again but not any more.
