We saw an interview with Big Ed on the evening news a while ago while Covid still had restaurants closed. Big Ed told of his love for his employees and how he prayed that the restaurant could open soon and his employees could once again earn livings for their families. I remember that he was asked what made his restaurant different and what did he want future customers to know? His answer was that he wanted to serve great food at a price that everyone could afford. Upon arriving we found the parking lot almost full, and we were surprised to find the inside so large with many rooms that it was only 1/3 full. We chose to eat the buffet and the line quickly went from one end to the other. The selection of food changes on different days of the week so check ahead if you want something particular. Our selection included catfish both baked and fried, fried chicken, fried chicken livers, meatloaf , and many different vegetables. The salad bar has a variety of potato salad, slaw, macaroni salad, lettuce and all the salad fixings. A dessert bar has different cobbler and bread pudding. And for the ice cream person a soft serve machine awaits you. After our meal I had a chance to talk to Big Ed and congratulated him on meeting our expectations. Great food, a pleasant atmosphere, and at such a low price. I asked him how he does it when other restaurants are charging more and more, and his answer was” it...
Read moreOh, the food needs a lot of work now. The service was nice and place needs a little bit of a cleaning up too many of the kitchen help putting their hands in the food not wearing any gloves the food was horrible. It didn’t have much flavor. Everything was mushy. The chicken was dry no flavor Delivered was tender, but had no flavor. I couldn’t tell it was liver at first I had to ask someone what it was didn’t have much to offer as far as a Buffay very small limited choices, and again, like I said, the food didn’t have much flavor and was very mushy , desserts are fair but look like they’ve been sitting out there for quite a while. It’s time for a new cook, and the owners son was pleasant to speak with him the best part of the whole experience I’d have to say was the ice tea good ice tea but the food is horrible And for the price that you pay for two people by the time you walk out the doors over $37 I could’ve done better at McDonald’s. Hopefully they can get it together and get a better cook. Someone who actually knows how to cook the food and not overcook it knows how to use seasoning, possibly a better variety , even the presentation of the food look nasty. Good luck at thanks for the...
Read moreThis was our first time coming and we loved it. First with the food normally my wife has to salt her food but everything had good seasoning and good flavor. Normally buffets have those hard plastic cups, but not this restaurant. Everything just seemed like they took care of it and actually cared about the customers experience. From the glass cups, to the potpourri in the bathroom, to the delicious food and beautiful atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and we even met Big Ed himself. They have widescreen TVs where you can watch TV and two different dining rooms for extra seating. Even the napkins and the dish soap were amazing, to further explain they didn't skip on certain things and that's why I feel like the owner actually took time in their business and actually cares. I feel like it's worth the $12.99 (plus $$ drink) cost, not only did the owner put quite a bit of money into this but they also take a lot of care with their food and it really does show. They offer a buffet, salad bar and a dessert as well. We will be back (even if you are over an hour away) and we plan on bringing our kids too! Thank...
