I'm staying at the hotel that this joint is located in, and honestly expected the restaurant to measure up to the absolutely fantastic standard I've seen in the rest of the hotel. How very wrong I was. While the staff member who took my order was exceptionally friendly, the food just didn't measure up, especially considering the prices here ($13 to $15 for a burger). I ordered 2 veggie patties, no lettuce, no bread, with 2 over easy eggs and grilled mushrooms, and a side salad. I could float the French army down the sidewalk on the river of grease my food arrived sitting in. The veggie patties were no better quality than a Kroger freezer section boxed variety, and were burned black around the edges, destroying what little flavor they may have had to begin with. Absolutely no condiments arrived with the meal. The eggs were nothing close to over easy - one yolk was completely cooked dry and the other was a moment away from being cooked through, as well. This is something I pointed out THREE times when I placed my order, that I wanted the egg yolks runny. Disaster. The salad was the sorriest I've ever seen from an establishment that hopes to make money selling edible food. It was all iceberg lettuce, and even then, mostly the bitter nasty white pieces, adorned with flavorless chunks of what I presume the chef thought were croutons. The house dressing, the balsamic, was not balanced in flavor and while it should have been tangy, was all tang and no taste. I finished my meal - but I won't order here again, and I wouldn't be able to recommend this place to anyone,...
Read moreWe stayed in the Holiday Inn Riverfront over the weekend and dined twice in the in-house restaurant branded here as "Burger Theory" -- for dinner on Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday morning. We were treated both times by the same server. She was wonderful -- professional, personable and attentive. She was also doing double if not triple duties as hostess, table cleaner, food orders, and food delivery. This was somewhat of a surprise to me since this hotel is billed as the flagship hotel property for Paducah KY. They seemed a little thin on staff since we waited on Friday night to get seated several minutes (and the bartender seemed very uninterested in stepping out and assisting those waiting to be seated or at least offer to take some drink orders while guests were waiting --- seemed like he could use a little team building exercise).
The food quality was good for a hotel and the costs didn't seem out of line with other places we have dined. We ordered burgers and fish tacos for dinner and a robust breakfast the following day. Juice and tea refills were complimentary.
If getting a visit to your table by the kitchen staff, management or chef is your kind of thing -- you'll be disappointed --- in fact the kitchen seems like its in an odd location -- way off the main floor of the dining room and bar. Overall I give the dining services a three-star so if you have time to select other venues in town, you may want to do a little research --- if weather is bad and you don't want to leave the property, you wont go hungry, just wont get top...
Read moreThe food rating on door was an A. I do not see how. We waited at sign that said "please wait to be seated" about 7 minutes. We got to table...there was a literal roach crawling on table. Figured it was a one off since it had an A rating. Given a plastic coated menu that had was sticky and had circular rings on it. We waited literally 30 minutes for food (we timed it) then the salad had wrong dressing. We asked THREE times, two people for correct dressing taking 15 minutes before getting right. The waiter took my tea to refill it and gave it to person with dog at table(dog was good...sitting at table like a human) then realizes his mistake after two minutes and brings me THAT same tea. The burger was ordered without pickles (do not like pickles or the juice from them) the burgers were dry. The only thing fit for human consumption were the French fries. And they weren't even very busy at 6:30 on a Sarurday night, so I don't see why service was so poor. I definitely do not trust whomever inspects Paducah to give them a A rating anymore. Definitely an F. Paid bill and first time EVER we agreed on NO TIP. We eat out a lot, we've been to good and bad places. This ranks worst of worst. Usually bad restaurants still get tips from us because we feel it's not servers fault food not up to par. This time.....was totally different. BOTH...
