Bistro 70 — Restaurant in Painesville

I cook at home everyday so in special occasions I enjoy going out We went to Bistro 70 last year and it was perfect! I went again for the lamb chops because I don’t make those at home First of all we were rushed at our table and asked about a drink before I even opened a drink menu Then I was asked about an appetizer again rushed When I ordered the waitress never offered any specials and then tells me they’re out of lamb! This should have been communicated earlier! The manager then comes over to explain that I should have requested and placed a hold on the lamb when we called for reservations Really? I’m supposed to know this? I heard the waitress offering the specials to other tables and she never checked back to see if I needed anything I had to ask for water ! The bill was 174$ We caught the owner when he asked how it was and tried to explain but he really wasn’t interested Also when checking the bill we had ordered chevis and got dewers ! We had an opinionated and defensive waitress. I think she may have been part of the management. I went for dinner with my wife and daughter. One of the waitress's first remarks to us was "I've never seen a little girl up this late." Ok, we'll try not to feel judged as parents. Then when my wife asked if they could please cook the tuna a little longer, the waitress got defensive by sayIng that they already considered it cooked more than they usually do, rare. We did not ask how they usually cook it, we expressed how we'd like it in a polite way. Then when she returned with the meal, she continued lecturing my wife by saying she should have asked for medium, not medium rare. The food was very good, the portions modest, the ambiance was classy, and the cost was pricey. It would have been a perfect dinner experience without that waitress's...

I gave one star reluctantly. My wife and I thought we would finally try this place and I am not happy we did. Ordered 2 "Lake Perch" dinners to go. The fish was absolutely terrible. It was either some old fish and or not perch at all. I have never had such bad fish. The process at Bistro was equally as bad. They literally did not know what they were doing. First they charged tax on a to go order and when I pointed this out it took 3 tries to get it right and even then it was wrong. They have charged my credit card account and extra 84.73 over the 42.00 I paid for the bad fish. I am now in the process of getting these charges corrected. Bottom line is...I really hope for Bistro 70 sake that they do not treat all customers so poorly. As far as I am concerned I will never take a chance with this...
