So I found this hidden gem on accident. Was going for movie with mom and aunt at AMC Barrington. We were late for the 6:30 show so we said let's go to 9:20 show and eat first. Looked up Thai places nearby as was craving something Thai as it had been a bit since I had eaten it. It's small family run place next door to a Korean restaurant in a strip mall. The daughter was serving basically all the tables and running the register and I believe the Mom was cooking. One man came later to drop off a dish from the back but not sure if it was the brother. So we ordered drinks and I wanted a beer which they don't serve alcohol so I ordered a Thai Iced Tea (pretty good... tasted like most other places). Then we ordered veggie egg rolls, edamame and small cucumber salad (enough for three but could have had a large cause it was so good but because we were ordering more food we didn't want to fill up plus we weren't sure how it would taste but now I think I would have ordered the large and ate some more because it was light dish). Egg rolls were crispy and tasty and edamame was warm and salty and crispy (maybe could be cooked for another minute but that perhaps would have lost its crunch but it was tasty... it's edamame can't do much with it). The cucumber salad was super tasty. The vinaigrette dressing on it was so good. We added mixed some of the Thai chilli sauce we had with the egg Roz for a little kick. So tasty! I'm not veg but my mom and aunt are so I decided to order all veg dishes so we could all share. Great idea because everything I ate was hella good. For our main entrees basil fried rice at the recommendation of the server she if we wanted tofu or vegetable. So my mom isn't a tofu fan but my aunt and I do eat it so we ordered vegetable and basically they add more and different veggies than what's in the base dish. I'm glad we did. So damn delicious! We also ordered the Panang curry let her recommendation and it was light and tasty and ordered with vegetable also instead of tofu and that was also a good idea because it had more veggies in addition to the base. Lastly we ordered crazy noodles but with tofu this time instead of additional veggies because I thought would be good to have at least one dish with tofu and that's what server recommended also. It was made to perfection. The tofu was nice and crispy not soft like some places and noodles and veggies were great combo with it. All three main dishes were so good and we did hot and medium hot for dishes as we like spicy. You won't die from heat it was good flavor and my aunt can't eat too hot and she enjoyed it. So we ate with the spicy Thai chilli sauce and some left over sweet and sour sauce we had with egg rolls. The combination of the three dishes was amazing which I let the server know several times. Poor girl seemed overwhelmed a tiny bit handling all the tables (I think there are like 10 and they were more than 2/3 full) but she was nice and didn't complain and melt smiling even when we asked for more sauce and napkins. I asked her as o was paying bill it was family owned and she said yes. It's been open for ten years. We live in Wheaton near Naperville and cane to Barrington area just for movie so this isn't close for us however I would drive all the way again just to eat here as I loved it so much! I've been to Thailand and eaten yummy food and this place can definitely hold a candle to their Home...
Read moreService is very poor here, especially after they hired a new chef who uses garbage ingredients and does not even use the ingredients that is listed on the food description. We ordered the basil Thai rice with chicken after having a good experience the first time with nice large pieces of white meat chicken. Well sadly the second time instead of using chicken, they put a bunch of mushrooms and there are not supposed to be any mushrooms in there and there was not any chicken. So I called and I spoke with Annie, who was supposed to be the manager. She said that I would have my next mail free. So I called today and ordered basil fried rice with chicken. Instead of getting basil fried rice with chicken I got a small container of brown rice plain and then a container of something that looks like ground beef with a few basil, leafs and onion. It was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever had and it was absolutely not basil fried rice. It looked like they ground up chicken organs, and it tasted even worse. I would avoid this place at all cost because clearly they don’t care about quality and service any longer and when they make a big mistake, they double down and make the mistake again and they don’t really care to make...
Read moreIf you think this is good thai food... you dont know what thai food is. I am Thai, I have been to Thailand (was born there) and its a shame to see people call this Thai food. Nice place and good service but the food is very dissapointing. The portions are very small. The Pad See Ew is not authentic, and yes almost too sweet and really 3 pieces of broccoli for a full dinner portion? The curry is all soup, ' where's the beef?' and nothing of substance. The Lad Nar was also poorly executed and soupy not to mention the Pad Thai which, in my mind is better at a chain restaurant like Big Bowl.
As for the appitizers, the peanut sauce was incorrectly made, tasted like peanut butter, and when I asked regarding the vegatables in the fried rice, they mentioned that it was pre-made and they just add what ever meat you want. (WHAT!!!! so much for fresh Thai food)
If are looking for authentic Thai food or even good Thai food, Jaded Thai will leave you Jaded. They should call the place Thai 'like' food but...
