Despite a very poor craft beer selection, I come here for the usual excellent service and better than average bar food. Unfortunately, I've lowered my rating by 2 stars due to the absolutely horrible 1-star service received this evening. It started when the bartender, who appeared to be in an uninterested & bad mood, changed the TV directly in front of me from the Blackhawks to the Cavs. When I made a comment, she rudely responded "it didn't look to me like you were watching." Are you kidding me! And of course she never changed it back or apologized. Waiting about 10min between an empty drink and a refill, I decided to play some video poker. I was very lucky this evening and ended up with over $500 in tickets to cash. The machine used to cash tickets was out oforder but a gentleman working there said it would be reset in 15min. An hour later, I still hadn't gotten an update from him despite sitting at the bar waiting. When I questioned him I received a "It's a computer...what do you want me to do? Come back some other time when it's working". He may not have been able to assist but a pleasant attitude by either him or the overworked grumpy bartender would have been nice. I then proceeded to call the game manufacturer directly who informed me that it is the establishment's responsibility to coordinate getting the machine fixed with a local repair company. Standing by the machine with a cell phone reciting a serial number actually seemed to wake this person up as he actually made the difficult effort of making a phone call to the repair company. Bottom line...I hope I can get my money tomorrow morning and plan to talk directly to the owner.
I'm sure I'll return to this bar as it's normally very nice. However, if I see this particular girl behind the bar I'll be sure to hightail it out of there as quickly as possible. There are a lot of other choices in the area if this starts to become the service norm...I...
Read moreHotel Hampton Inn & Suites is a place that we stayed when we were in Chicago for a smart conference. The hotel had plenty of rooms fairly modern they had USB Jacks in all of the electrical outlets so no need to worry about phone adapter plugins just need the cord. My room had a microwave small fridge large TV a desk couch with a small TV tray or something to write on that was portable another small desk with a lamp. It was pretty nice the room had a very large bed. The price range I not sure but I think it was a little over $100 a night there was a Chili's restaurant nearby in IHOP plenty of gas stations it was just off of Interstate 90. There is a continental breakfast from 6:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. in the morning everyday warm sausage scrambled eggs bread muffins you can make your own waffle through Dry cereal with milk oatmeal and juices along with some fruit. This was a very beneficial for us that we could just grab something to eat before we went to the Dave and Ramsey smart conference. On Friday night it was only a few hours long but on Saturday which is when we had the breakfast it was a full day long event 9:00 until 6:00 in the afternoon. Friday night they did a live taping of smart money happy hour with George camel and Rachel Cruz. It was a very entertaining time they made this black tea mocktail that had pepper lemon juice and some other ingredients. If you don't know what smart money happy hour is or I've never seen it you really should look it...
Read moreToday I got the all you can eat fish fry. The price I was charged was $19.50 whereas the price on the website is $18.50. I was then charged for extra tartar sauce for the AYCE fish fry despite it coming w/ an additional tartar sauce w/ each order I placed. I asked the waitress about it and she just said yea, sorry. Had I known (and had she told me) they would have charged extra for the tartar sauce I would have just waited until my next order came which comes w/ more tartar sauce. This 2 tablespoons of tartar sauce set me back 95 cents to boot! I had mentioned to her that I would have appreciated had she let me know that there was an extra charge. She was apologetic but then snipped back with "well technically you are supposed to buy a drink too". I could have (and would have) put one of the tables many drinks on my tab but after that comment I was done. Being penny wise and pound foolish only loses you customers. You lost a customer today over a 95 cent tartar sauce. Aside from that, our server was pleasant.
The fish itself was "inconsistent at best". On my first order, the first piece was great, the next two were chewy and rubbery. The second order was much of the same, 1 good and one rubbery. Tater...
