Update July 2018: They have a liquor license with a decent selection of Mexican beer and very good (Hornitos) margaritas.
I completely agree with Brian Shelton's previous review. This place is outstanding. I wandered in at 11am on a Sunday and they were just opening up. I met Silvino (one of the brothers) who is very friendly and went out of his way to make my meal excellent. Everything here is made fresh. They serve white corn tortilla chips that are fried to order and almost taste like friend flour tortillas because they are so light. These are served with a classic salsa and unique tomatillo salsa. Ask for specials because they are always doing something different. Today it was Posole (Mexican chicken soup). Silvino let me try a small bowl first since I had never heard of it. It was so good I ordered it as a meal. He always roasted some small chile peppers for me to add spice. It was so flavorful with softened white corn kernels (hominy) and comes with a side of cabbage, radishes, limes and fresh cut onions. I had some flan for dessert and it was perfect - with a slight curd and not too sweet. I'll be back to try the mole enchiladas and chile rellenos. They are also going to start making tamales in the future. Tell your friends - this place is a gem! They opened in the Summer of 2016 and are co-owned by Silvino and his brother. They are out to make it on their own after many jobs in other industries including management in a large, corporate food service chain. Yes - support a...
Read moreGreat space, amazing staff, good food and tasty margaritas and sangria! Alberto is THE BEST!
I couldn't be more thankful to Alberto and the crew at Taqueria Maya for hosting our bridal shower on site and providing food and drinks for the event. Alberto was absolutely amazing! From the decorations/set-up to the attentiveness of him and his staff, the team at Taqueria Maya was essential for making our day absolutely perfect!
Everyone was raving about the food, (food included: guac, salsa and chips, veggie quesadillas, chicken fajitas, steak tacos, al pastor tacos, flautas con papa) and we might have been the closest party to ever sell them out of sangria. Very unique take on sangria and it was a hit! Margaritas are made with fresh ingredients (flavors: lime, mango and pomegranate). I got a text message from an attendee of our event that said they wished they had 10 more churros. Food was fantastic and they had something for everyone! Alberto and his team were also considerate of folks with dietary restrictions. Pointed out and provided gluten free options and made drinks without alcohol for those not drinking or pregnant.
If you are considering having an event at Taqueria Maya, Alberto and his team will make you feel so special. They helped with set up, completely took care of tear down and clean up. 10/10 would recommend! THANK...
Read moreAre you tired of chain restaurants? Me too. Don't blink when driving past this strip mall cuz you may miss the entrance to delicious Mexican fare that is lovingly homemade. Family owned and friendly, the menu has many of your favorite dishes without having an overwhelming number of choices. Huge delicious burritos, crispy homemade tortilla chips, generous Chili Rellenos in a real (not canned) chili. Their green salsa is fabulous, too. Don't forget to save room for a homemade EXCELLENT chocolate stuffed churro for dessert. Delicious, crisp edges and soft center. How do they do that? Hector, our server, was very attentive without hovering. He let us taste the tequila that is used in their margaritas before ordering. He also anticipated needs and was right there with a new basket of chips or to close a curtain from blinding sun. Alberto, the owner, has years of restaurant experience and opened this place to spotlight real Mexican food - As in family recipes and homemade items. They even make their own chorizo. Would...
