Two friends invited me to go for my first time there. The door was locked & I was disappointed. The sign said open at 10 AM & it was after 10. Then a woman came to the door & unlocked it. I got the size cup with colored dots on it & it was the perfect amount for me. I think the price said $6.49. One scoop was peanut butter cup & my second scoop was caramel brownie. Both were rich & creamy & the flavors complimented each other. I loved it! My friend who is turning 91 got butter pecan then picked out all the pecans & put them on his napkin. I thought it was cute & reminded me of a little child. I hope he's not allergic but he seemed to get every piece. Maybe he had a tooth issue or sore mouth. I suggested he try vanilla next time. Not sure what my other friend ordered but it was huge. The server said the ice cream comes from Wisconsin. The only thing I would caution about is the sloping floors especially for the elderly. The dining room entrance is like a little cave with twists. The last slope as you exit the front door is painted with a white line that looked like a step to the 90 year old but it's flat. The old sign farm decor on the walls is interesting. I think I saw a young Dolly Parton & several farm animals. I definitely hope to go back often for more. I was told there's a drive through window but I haven't verified that. There are cute little tables & chairs in...
Read moreThis makes me sad to have to write this. My family loves this place. My husband me and our 5 daughters all love to come here and get milkshakes. We have gone at 10 min to close on a Tuesday night with one person working and had the best experience. Today we came in and were told if we were going to order that many shakes we needed to “put them in” I didn’t even know what she was talking about. My husband is short tempered and said they’ve never asked us to do that before. It was how the women behind the counter reacted. She just kept saying how if we have that many we should let them know especially if it’s during the day. I was just so confused. Then she told us if we wanted to come back again we needed to go to the Facebook to let them know we were coming. It’s sad because we loved this place. We felt like we were a huge bother to make milkshakes for and probably will never go back again. To the teacher who works nights here and always helped us and treated us so well thank you we appreciate you ! Good bye Hoot Owl you were so good to us once! We love your ice cream but maybe your just not staffed enough to handle 5 kids...
Read moreMy husband, daughter, son, and I went here about 2 months ago and ordered 4 chocolate shakes. Each cup was halfway full and the total price was a little over $20...I asked why they were only half full and the cashier said they were running out of chocolate ice cream. But that should have been told to us when we ordered at the speaker, and then to charge full price of it is insane. We handed each one of those shakes back thru that window and went right across the street to Wendy's, got 4 LARGE chocolate shakes ALL THE WAY FULL, for only $11! Very disappointing because I love supporting small local businesses but will not being going back. ...
