The ice cream is great, but the service is horribly slow. I've dealt with this problem before, which is why I avoid the place if there's any semblance of a line. I thought I was in the clear tonight, as I looked through the window and saw 3 employees working and only 1 group of people in line ahead of me. However, Lappert's managed to disappoint yet again... I walked in about 20 minutes before closing, and as soon as I did 2 of the employees who had just finished ringing up guests switched gears and began to do closing tasks. I wasn't concerned at first, as I figured I wouldn't have to wait long with only 1 group being waited on ahead of me. However, the group was large and was getting a lot of the fancy drinks that take a while to make. So after waiting for some time, I informed the employee scooping the ice cream that I had been waiting in line for about 15 minutes, and I asked her if it would be possible to get 1 of the other employees to help me. Lily looked at the other 2 employees, 1 who was wiping some tables at this point, and the other who was taking quite a while refilling straws behind the counter, and told me that they were both busy doing things they had to and that they would help me whenever they got done. I am a bit shocked by this, but I tell her okay, and continue to wait. Shortly after, the employee stocking up straws turns to Lily and asks her if she should help me. Lily tells her no, and to keep doing what she's doing. Finally the third employee, who I think may have also heard the conversation, comes over to help me and I get my ice cream... In the end, I'm just amazed at the blatant disregard for customer satisfaction here. It's bad enough that the service was poor to begin with. However, I find it so much worse that when I pointed out the issue and kindly asked for the company to fix it, this employee instead decided to show me that my business was less important than shoving some...
Read moreLappert’s has such great ice cream and their house-made flavors are truly excellent! Read below for more info if you'd like, or skip to the bottom for a 'TLDR'!
My favorites include Mint Chip, Hawaiin Kona Coffee, Praline Pecan, Strawberry, and their straight up Vanilla made with Madagascar Vanilla Beans.
My wife also loves this place and her favorites are Kauai Pie (made with coffee, chocolate fudge , coconut, and macadamia nuts), Banana Cream Pie, Pistachio, and Non-Dairy Coconut Bliss.
They also heve an assortment of 'different' flavors including Honeysuckle Rose (that has actual rose petal extract), Udderly Pure (which is as basic as ice cream can be without any additional flavors added to it), and Lychee. They also have a vast assortment of traditional and unique ice cream flavors and sorbets.
Lappert’s is easily the best place to get great tasting ice cream and sorbets for an affordable price! They have quite a few options for vegans, which is always nice to see even though neither my wife nor I are vegans ourselves.
They also make Date shakes, made from locally-grown Coachella dates! I can't personally tell yiu anything about them since I've never ordered on myself, but whenever my father-in-law is visiting is, he always wants to have one (or 3) during his vacation here from Nashville!
TLDR?
Go to Lappert’s because they have a great selection of wonderful ice cream and sorbet flavors, including several that are vegan-friendly. If you're from out of town or live locally and are hosting out of town friends or relatives, bring them here so they can try some ice cream made with our very special Coachella Dates! You can't go wrong here! It's great tasting and you get quite a lot for any given size making it quite affordable! Trust me and my wife, you'll love it too,...
Read moreToday is the last time I will come to this location. I stopped to get my husband and me each a milkshake and to take home a quart of ice cream. I had my mask on when I entered and kept it on the whole time. There were 15 people (customers) inside this place that were already there when I got there and there was 1 person among them who had a mask on! Shouldn't entry be limited here to may 4-6 people MAX because, after all, you are moving up and down an ice cream flavor line and there is little room here. If you want to Eat your food after you get it - go outside!
This group looked like they were together because they were laughing - sans mask - talking, eating, breathing, walking right next to me. The employees here, including the 2 older gentlemen who should know better and should've said something to these people about getting their masks on - did NOTHING. It is wholly inconsiderate, dangerous, against state rules right now to NOT have your mask on. If you are tasting something, then pull the mask a little away from you while you taste and then put it back. I left not wanting to endanger my health or my husband's. Nope. Just irresponsible on everyone's part but...
