We’re Dining with The Davids. When we go to a restaurant, we bring a giant group of foodies known as our “Taste Buds.” We typically order a 12-course meal, which allows us to really get to know the menu. The problem with other reviewers is they typically try one or two dishes. We try almost everything on the menu! At the end of the evening, everyone votes for their favorite dishes, which we turn into video content for Instagram/TikTok, etc.
Our recent visit to The Restaurant at the Palm Springs Surf Club was a culinary adventure set against one of the most breathtaking backdrops in the desert. The mid-century modern design of the dining space, with its floor-to-ceiling glass, seamlessly connects indoors with the patio overlooking the lazy river. Beyond that, the massive three-million-gallon wave pool adds a mesmerizing touch, offering diners a front-row seat to surfers carving through the waves.
For our curated tasting, we gathered 20 Taste Buds and sampled a selection of standout dishes. The crowd favorite appetizer was the Surf Club Ceviche, a beautifully balanced mix of snapper and sea bass, brightened with lime, cilantro, frisée, pear, and crispy taro root.
Among the entrées, second place went to the Spring Vegetable Risotto, packed with vibrant flavors and textures from sweet peas, edamame, asparagus, and sugar snap peas. First place was the Pork Schnitzel, a golden, crispy masterpiece served with Romesco sauce and fingerling potatoes. Insider tip: ask for extra Romesco on the side—you won’t regret it.
For dessert, the hands-down winner (and overall champion of the night) was the Lemon Meringue Pavlova. Light and airy, perfectly balanced with whipped cream and a bright red berry coulis, it’s a must-order and ideal for sharing.

Read moreThis place needs to decide what it wants to be. It is beautifully decorated. The menu is on the medium to high end in terms of offerings and pricing. But the customers and vibe is that of an adult Chuck e Cheese. There was a bunch of pool/surfer folks that were doing tequila shots at the bar and yelling. At one point, one of them starts screaming to all the diners (the bar is close to the dining room) to pay attention to him (repeatedly) and join in a toast for one of his friends. And this went on for awhile. Really awkward and almost threatening if we didn't join in given the repeated calls for attention to him. Uhm, manager? Can you please talk to your bar customers to keep it down and if they wan to party, keep it to the outside bar. Several tables over there is a 4 year old on his own. Well behaved but just sitting there with NO adult. His mother? would occasionally come in and check on him but this was every 10 minutes or so. They had long since had their meal and were using their table as their personal cabana to sit/relax after being in the pool. Our server (Holly) was great. She apologized for the noise. The food was very good but I'm thankful we ordered from the Happy Hour menu (ends at 6pm). Would I go back? Dunno. Maybe for the Happy Hour menu but no way for the full priced menu until they establish some proper decorum and rules for the...
