To the owner of Papa Al's, I'd like you to know that my husband and I came into your restaurant every other week for dinning purposes and have always enjoyed our experience and food, however after the interaction with your wife, Samar, last night and they way she was rude, disrespectful, and aggressive, we will no longer be dining in your establishment. This was a VERY disheartening experience and an eye opener to they way your wife treats the customers. We will not be returning. Our experience: My husband and I went to one of our normal spots last night for dinner. Unfortunately, we had a very unforgettable experience. To start with, the restaurant was filled to the max with customers. The waitresses were overwhelmed and there was clearly not enough wait staff to serve the tables. We were very specific when we placed our orders but our orders still did not come out correct and our food was cold. On top of that the owner's wife, Samara, was incredibly disrespectful. When we explained to her that we were unhappy with the food and that it was cold, she told us we were wrong and the food wasn't cold. She also made a very big show when she brought our entrees out that they were so hot and we needed to be very careful because they were so hot. Our appetizer came out with our entree. I told Samar I didn't want them anymore and her tone was very rude when she said "that's how it was rung in". I don't understand how it's my fault that the waitress but the wrong information into your system when ordering food. As regular customers, you would thing she would apologize and try to make the experience better but she only made it worse. Samara tried multiple times with raising her voice to try to provoke a response from us, in front of other customers, and she told my husband and I that we were rude and we were the ones overwhelming her staff. Neither my husband nor I EVER raised our voice once. We were in complete shock with how she spoke to us and treated us.
To the owner of Papa Al's, I hope she treats her wait staff better than she treats your customers. Losing two people as regular customers may not be a big deal to you, but to my husband and I, the way your wife treated us, was a big deal to us. (Also, of you look at other reviews, I am not the only person who has had a bad...
Read moreA few weeks ago I came to Papa Al's from out of town for a hot date. This restaurant was suggested to me by a coworker, so I gave it a go. I was hopeful that a little Italian spot with spark some romance in the palmerton area!
The first sign of trouble was when we opened the menu and every food items price was crossed out in black permanent marker. Why not just replace the menus?
The server was relatively new and had a hard time suggesting much of anything. We ordered the arancini with vodka sauce. It was served already cut open and slathered in a blush sauce. The arancini was not crispy and definitely wasn't made with anything resembling arborio rice. More importantly the entire thing was bland and unseasoned, and the "vodka sauce" had never seen any of the core ingredients required for such a name including vodka. Unortunately this was the best part of the meal.
I ordered their aglio e olio dish with red pepper flakes and anchovy - A simple dish with few core ingredients. What I received was an oily, lukewarm dish of spaghetti covered in jar-lic (preminced, jarred garlic), that was so fishy I couldn't eat it. I can only presume that they added anchovy (preserve) oil into the pasta. Having made this at home a hundred times, I can guarantee it never saw a proper emulsion needed to bind the pasta and olive oil.
My date ordered a pesto dish. What she was served looked more like an oily, microwaved pesto with a dark green hue more typical of burnt or wilted herbs. Moreover it tasted like dried basil was actually used to prepare it.
Without eating much we quickly paid and left. Just outside we found the first trash can and discarded what could have been the worst entrees I had ever seen. Unfortunately, the bad food experience put a damper on the entire date and we never tried a second.
I would advise everyone to steer clear of this place as it will surely be making people very sick, or featured on a restaurant rescue TV show where they'll discover the owner no longer cares about what's going out to the customers.
Perhaps a little too late, I asked my coworker who suggested this place what they typically ordered. She said "Pizza". We are no...
Read moreOVER CHARGED at Papa Al’s Tonight and I was told that the prices on the menu are old and not valid and I was told to read the really small fine print at the bottom of the menu that said prices might change. I was told menu was approved by Papa Al’s lawyer. Really the menu was lawyer approved. I’m 58 years old and I never been told a restaurant’s menu has been lawyer approved. Lol. So I guess that’s their license to OVER CHARGE their guests.
Menu price for Chicken Parmesan dinner was $14.95 . I was charged $18.67
Menu price for Chicken Caesar wrap was $8.95. I was charged $11.39
Menu price for Personal speciality pizza was $10.95. I was charged $11.39
Total overcharge $7.05
I brought this to the attention of the employee at the register and I was told I was not the first to complain about menu OVER CHARGES and that she felt I was right. She also said they ordered new menu’s weeks ago. I could see she was embarrassed.
When I asked if they would adjust the price to what the menu stated she could not answer and got another employee. Owner was not present. I was told the owner might be in on Tuesday. Employees said owner pops in and out. They never know when he is going to be in.
They would not adjust any of the prices and told me menu OVER CHARGING was common practice at other restaurants. I find this totally not true.
Customers should be told when seated that actual prices are a lot higher than the menu that is handed to them.
I was left and extremely disappointed at the way Papa Al’s handled the situation and believe Papa Al’s for a local restaurant could have handled this much , much better.
No such thing at Papa Al’s that the customer is sometimes right.
Papa Al’s Please get your act together and please stop OVER CHARGING your hard working local customers.
Would not of posted a negative review if they just adjusted my bill to reflect the menu prices at the register and not of been so deceiving.
