PJ's Coffee — Restaurant in Palmview

Slow, aloof, less than helpful staff. Over priced poorly made coffee that was equal parts burnt, acidic, and harsh. I ordered a Cafe Au Lait and I got notes of grass, rancid oil, and lemon (these are all unwanted). The astingency was so high it was undrinkable, and I tossed it into the bin.

Why does coffee have to be so pretentioius...it's just coffee...it's not difficult to make, and make incredibly well.

If you're someone that drinks coffee for flavor (not just the caffeine jolt), do yourself, your palate, and your bank account a favor and get coffee somewhere else.

There are, far better coffee options in McAllen, and all over the RGV for that matter.

I read another review where it was mentioned that you are asked for a tip "before" your drink is made. Can confirm. Happened to me. And they are absolutely shameless about it too. Wow.

Ok I’m freaking out! I’m from NOLA, Pj’s was the place I spent most of my time studying during nursing school near my home. Almost everyday. So lots of memories. I don’t ever drive to Palmview, but I had an appt there. I saw a billboard For Pjs and couldn’t believe it! There’s a Pjs coffee in the middle of no where! wish it was closer to me since it’s definitely out of my way. But I’ll drive anywhere for PJs even if it’s 15 mins out of the way!! It’s southern cake season and was excited to have it it cold brew/iced coffee form! I’m used to Pjs offering flavored iced coffee, but maybe the menu changed? This experience was fair. The people here are friendly enough. They know the items on menu well, but seem to lack the more diverse knowledge of an experienced barista for a next-level tea experience. This was my third visit to this location and I was really hoping that over time these essential skills for a top-notch experience would be learned, but that wasn't my experience. I thought I had ordered an iced London Fog, but the flavor of the drink that was delivered was definitely disappointing. It was a lot like hot water poured over ice, with milk.
