What’re you sipping this weekend? Get your hands on our Lake Haze #37: Day Float before it’s gone! Hazy DIPA brewed with Summit, El Dorado, Jackson Expiremtnal Ocho Hops. After fermentation, we conditioned this brew on Grade A Madagascar vanilla beans. Too tasy to pass up! 8.0% Alc./Vol. 50 IBU 🌊 #wallenpaupackbrewingco #thewakezone #fyp #foryoupage #craftbrewery #brewery #newrelease #release #lakehaze

(Removed:)Going with 2 stars. (Removed) The food is good. But the asinine way of getting food, beer, water, silverware, or a take home box is ridiculous.

Been here 3 times. First two times were great. Food was good. The place functioned like a normal restaurant that happened to have a brewery and shop. It was cute. My girlfriend, my father, and myself liked it. Now we come back the third time.

We walk in. Two girls are sitting on high chairs by the door talking to each other. They welcome us. Then a young man comes up to take us to our seat. So far nothing amiss. He asks “have you folks been here before?”, to which we said yes. Let me explain something to you. When you totally change your dynamic on how your restaurant functions, asking if you’ve been here before, and assuming you knew this, means nothing. It should be phrased “have you been here since we changed our ordering system?”

So to our surprise, the staff no longer take your order. You’re seated. You go to one side of the restaurant to order food. You go to another side of the restaurant to order beer. You go to a water draft in the middle of the place to get your water. You get back up to ask the food desk for silverware or a take home box.

You’re given a table number. You take your table number to either food person, or beer person to open a tab. What’s even more fun is when beer person can’t find the tab food person started. So you’re waiting as they walk back and forth to each other to figure out what’s wrong. The simple answer is this entire system. Ok. Beer person found the tab from food person. You walk your own flights of beer to the table now. You get back up to get your waters at the draft watering hole. If you want ice you need to bring the water to the beer person to get you ice.

As we are eating, I count 2 employees doing absolutely nothing. The same ones at the door when we walked in. They must work the shop. The 2 bartenders leaning back up against the bar talking. The two food people leaning up at the wall talking. And the young man who took us to the table initially. Bouncing between the groups of employees, socializing. So apparently with all these employees, this place can no longer function like a regular restaurant and take orders or check up on tables. This is where I found out I need to get silverware and “to go” boxes from food station and went to beer person to find out about the self serve ice-less water station.

And to finally close, as expected, you get up to pay your check. The check that asks for gratuity. Seriously, how much do you think you deserve in this environment? Your entire restaurant is functioning like a modified cafeteria.

Suffice to say, I won’t be back.

Sad. As I said the food was good. Except the homemade chips. They suck. Stick to fries.

I changed my 2 stars to a 1 because of their moronic reply on google. “We’d like to hear more about your experience. Please send an e-mail including your name and the date of your visit to sales@wallenpaupackbrewingco.com , so our management team can contact you to resolve this issue.”

You want to hear more? My verbatim telltale is not enough? Do me a favor. Take your copy and pasted reply to one of the registers and tell them your table number. Is that info worthy...

Not my cup of tea. As some other reviews mentioned, the ordering system/"service model" is odd -- unnecessarily complicated and requiring the customer to do an absurd amount of work. First off, when the hostess seats you, you are required to give them a credit card in order to "start a tab." Then you have to order food at one counter and order drinks at another counter at the other end of restaurant. On top of that, you have to memorize your table number and give it to them when you order (as opposed to other systems where they might give you a number to take to your table). The system is very off-putting. I am surprised anyone goes back a second time just because of that. The system just seems inherently inhospitable.

I chose this establishment because, although I'm not a big drinker, I enjoy trying local craft beers when I travel, especially during pumpkin ale/octoberfest season. I didn't end up ordering any beer because I found the system alienating and I didn't feel like walking to the other end of the restaurant.

There were further complications with my order. I was sitting in the so-called "ledge" seating area along the windows, intended for solo diners or smaller parties. I correctly told the counter staff that I was sitting at "Ledge 4." For some reason, he assumed I meant that I was with the larger party at the nearby "Table 40." I didn't recognize exactly what was going on at that moment or anticipate how much the mistake might impact my experience.

The mistake delayed the arrival of my food and perhaps factored in to my soup arriving at the same time as my entree. The temperature was lacking to begin with and continued to deteriorate since it all arrived at once yet could only be eaten one item at a time. The items I ordered -- a squash beer cheese soup and a Korean Black Bean burger -- sounded interesting and tasty, but neither turned out to be notably flavorful. I ate my fries last and they tasted mostly of grease and salt.

When I walked back to the counter to pay for my food, it became clear that my food had been added to the "tab" of Table 40 and there was an additional delay to create a separate bill for me. It wasn't that big of a delay, but, if you're a business representative, you should always offer an apology for mistakes and delays, and no apology was offered.

Something I also feel strongly about is that a business representative should always thank the patron for their business. The cashier merely gave me a "thumbs up" and a "you're good to go." The hostess also did not offer a "Thank you" as I walked out.

I would agree with some of the reviewers who commented that the food seems overpriced for the quality.

And also, given that you have to walk all over the restaurant to order your food and beverages and that, on the whole, the restaurant does not give a strong impression of wanting to serve you, it is a bit of a shock that the tip screen suggests tip options of 18-25%.

Not that likely that I will be back in the area anyway, but I definitely would look for another...

This is an addendum to my prior review of this place. Went there on Saturday for Bacon Fest 2021 with friends and family. Was shocked amazed and confused by the way we were treated by the employees of this establishment. We made our reservations two weeks prior to the event. We all arrived on time at 12:30 immediately went online (buy online I mean physically walked up to a waiting line to order our food) and ordered our food and drink. There were 10 of us. Three of us ordered the flight of beer with the bacon. Flights came out almost a half an hour after we ordered. Bacon came out an hour after the flights arrived. It's Bacon Fest, we were expecting them to be married together and brought out together. When we mentioned it to the wait staff they shrugged their shoulders and said there's nothing we can do about it this is the way it came out. The 10 of us all ordered consecutively at the waiting line. However after 2 hours two of us had not received our food. We were enjoying each other's company until we were approached by employees that told us our time was up, we had to leave. When we explained to them that two of us still hadn't gotten our food they immediately said to my 83-year-old mother-in-law "your time is up!" In such a demeaning invalidative way. Like it was her fault that we didn't have our food and that we were just hanging out to annoy the staff. When our food finally arrived and the staff was still standing by our table watching the one last person eat she finally said can I have a to go container for this and they pointed over to where we ordered our food and told her to go there and get the container. Then in order to pay our tab we all have to go back online and wait to pay our tab which was a half an hour of wait time to pay our tab. I have never walked out on a meal that I didn't pay for but the temptation to do that was just so there for us to do. But none of us did that even though we were treated like the enemy we did not abuse this place and we all paid our tab and left. 10 people 10 uniquely different people connected to hundreds of other people that will not be returning to this place. We thought over time they would have gotten their act together that they would have prepared for an event of this magnitude. Their only preparation appear to be training what little staff they had to be as rude and abusive as they could possibly be MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: Very, very noisy. Hard to have a conversation with someone at your table. Prices were high for the quality and preparation of the food. Food was cold when served. First weekend opened. We will try it again with hopes that time may improve quality of food and service. You have to think in advance when you order food, it is near the impossible to get a condiment or extra napkin once served. Beer was very good. This is a welcome addition to this area and we hope for the best on...
