Paupack Watering Hole — Restaurant in Hawley

Came here while visiting Hawley for a few days. The place was not open late, so we rushed to the grocery store and dropped groceries off at the house, and came to the restaurant. When we got to the door, we saw a sign saying the kitchen closes 1 hr before close....it was an 1 hr and 20 mins before close. No one greeted to seat us, so we sat ourselves. No one came with menus, so I went to the bar and asked for some. I just didn't want to wait and be told the kitchen was closed. Waited a while, but finally, someone came to take our order. It took a long while for the food to come, and they do have a sign saying it may take longer because it's cooked to order, but my friends were getting hangry. Finally food came and I enjoyed my loaded kielbasa (with chili and cheese) and fries. My other friend like his chicken parm sandwich and my other friend liked her soup and nachos but felt the nachos themselves were burned, and the whole plate may have been sitting out for a while before being served. Got here at 11.30am sharp. The sign said they were open at 11:30. Our family with four members walked in and the hostess looks stunned that we walked through the door. I said are you open she looked at me puzzled and said um...yes.

So we were seated at a table and the waitress came and took our drink orders no big deal. She yelled over from the bar the menus are on the table for lunch. There was one menu and it only had six items listed nothing that any of our family was even remotely interested in.

The waitress came back to our table with our drinks and I asked her if there was other food options available and she said no. At that point I was ready to just pay for our drinks and leave and go somewhere else for different food options.

She decided to ask and they said yes we can do the full lunch menu. So it did start out Rocky but ended up getting better and the food was pretty good everybody in our family was happy with everything they ordered and it did come out fast because we were the only people in the restaurant...

Extremely disappointed. Specifically went before the dinner rush (4:30) to be served in a timely manner. Forced to sit outside due to requiring a high chair and having a medium sized party, while a party of two took the only 6 person low table available inside. Ordered drinks, apps, and kids item first requesting the kids item to be served promptly. Waited over an hour for said items even having to get up and go in to reorder drinks and check the status of kids item. Manager came over to ask what was wrong and then immediately had an attitude and became defensive stating they were low staffed in the kitchen and the promptness was not relayed to back of the house.
