Unfortunately I am sad to say this ,but If I could rate 0 stars I would. I am not one to leave bad reviews unless it is really called for. Today January 23rd 2023 was my first and my last experience at The Filling Station. I would personally love to speak with the owner on what went wrong in hopes that they would try to improve the experience for future guests. With all that being said… sub par food & atrocious customer service.
Walked in with it being my second day visiting my grandparents in my hometown (palmyra) after it being a few years. My grandma and I went to get a doughnut when one of the lady’s at the front of house responded with a snarky comment of “No doughnuts today. We don’t have doughnuts on Mondays. We haven’t had doughnuts on Mondays for two years.” While I haven’t been a resident of PA in over 4 years.
As another human being I understand everyone has a day so I was just going to go and order a different option on the menu- Pancakes.
About 10-15 minutes after placing the order with our waitress she arrives with the food. After she sets it on the table she doesn’t ask us if we need anything else or if everything looks ok. Anyway everything seemed fine until I went to pour the syrup and noticed and unwanted pancake topping… A hair. My grandparents discreetly try to wave our waitress over not wanting to cause a commotion, but perhaps get different pancakes. She rudely responds with “ I Don’t see a hair are you sure ?”
I say yes ma’am and bring the plate up towards her to point it out while still trying to remain discreet.
She then takes the plate and while still being in the FOH yells to the back kitchen a gentlemen’s name asking for new pancakes that there has been a claim of a hair being found. We hear him ask if she can see it when she responds loudly in front of a dining area of other locals “No I don’t see a hair, but she thinks there is one and I don’t think there is.”
I politely turn around from my booth to offer to show her and the gentleman preparing the food where it was and she glared over at our booth and said with an annoyed tone “No, he is already making new pancakes.”
Needless to say that the dining experience was cut short. I hope the owner can really find better help instead of the two ladies slowly running down their business with the poor customer service which in turn will only turn away any...
Read moreThis place has the potential to be amazing but sadly it isn't. The line wasn't defined waiting for a table and waitstaff didn't help with making that clear also no signage for it. As a first visit, this was confusing.
My husband got the chipped.beef breakfast over toast and hashbrowns and I got tbr daily breakfast combo. His: chipped beef gravy was more like a thick paste and the chipped "beef" was more like thinly sliced ham. Mine: the eggs were cooked fine but the sausage links were ice cold and the toast was barely toasted and not the type I asked for.
For both of us, the hashbrowns were completely unseasoned..no salt, no pepper, nothing.
Atmosphere: as a diner we expect loud which was fine but seated at the counter, we saw wait staff throwing dirty towels to wipe down tables onto the counter were coffee drinks were being prepared and one of the ladies preparing hot cocoa and other coffee drinks constantly licking her fingers and then touching the cups and the whipped dream bag Just gross! The dirty dishes would sit in bins right at eye level and next to where things were being prepped as well.
Servers were nice but should have checked accuracy of orders as well as temperature. We heard a server tell the girl next to us that her chocolate chip waffle would take a while because they burned the first one and that it happens all the time.
Settling the check isn't clear.eother as there were 2 registers but neither one seemed to have anyone at them.
Also, it says they are a bakery and while there is a bakery case for pies and donuts, it was completely empty so maybe they don't so this on Saturdays?
Just a disappointment all the way around. I wouldn't bother with this one again as there are many diners in this part of Pennsykvamia with better food...
Read moreI recently had breakfast at The Filling Station in Palmyra, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting - a perfect mix of hometown charm and cozy diner comfort. From the moment we walked in, the service stood out. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they do, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
As for the food, everything was fantastic. The breakfast menu had plenty of great options, and you could tell each dish was made with care. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was crisp, and the home fries were golden and flavorful. My coffee never went empty, and everything came out hot and fresh. It’s clear they take pride in both the quality of their ingredients and the presentation.
The Filling Station has that small-town feel where you immediately feel welcome, whether you’re a regular or just passing through. It’s the kind of place you want to linger over an extra cup of coffee. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a hearty breakfast and genuine hospitality - I’ll definitely...
