Tacos Don Luis Aguascalientes — Restaurant in Palos Township

First, let me say that I truly appreciate having more Mexican food options in the area. It’s always great to see new spots pop up, and Don Luis had some positives worth noting. The customer service was solid—friendly, efficient, and they got my order right without any issues.

As for the food, I’d call it mediocre overall. While the quality seemed okay, the biggest letdown was the tortillas. They tasted like a low-end off-brand you’d find at a warehouse club—likely packed with preservatives. The flavor was so distracting that it overpowered the rest of the dish. As a fan of Milagro tortillas, I’d strongly recommend they either make their own or source something fresher and more authentic.

The meat was tender, but it lacked the char and juiciness you’d expect from a standout taquería. On a brighter note, I did enjoy the guacamole—it was fresh and well-prepared. The chips, however, felt too uniform, both in color and texture, which makes me think they were factory-made rather than house-made.

Overall, I’m giving Don Luis 3 stars. It has potential, and I’m open to trying it again to see if the quality improves with time. I really want to like this place, and I hope they refine their approach—especially when it comes to the basics like...

They have the best menudo around! We totally loved the huge tripe chunks and they were willing to put hominy in it too! Extremely flavorful and fresh, made as it should be.

You have lots of competition over here but Cholula is the only place that makes actually fresh and good tasting Mexican food. Congrats on becoming the second Mexican restaurant in the Hickory Hills/Palos Hills/Justice/Bridgeview area that made me want to come back! I can't wait for our next weekend menudo night and look forward to trying some of your tacos, burritos, etc in the mean time.

Very friendly, accommodating, down to earth service. Fair enough prices, Mexican food will never be cheap again but its nothing outrageous.

If I could give more than 5 I would!! Walked in very clean and neat. Everyone there working polite and service was great took like 20mins but didn’t mind for fresh hot food . Hubby always talking about the place in Mexico the name of the restaurant, but in Mexico the town they have outstanding food there so he’s like this place has to be great lol So went and got 4 gordita’s to try the food out and 2 large horchatas and 4 chicken tacos for the kids the lady at the counter was like sorry if it’s taking a bit long I said I don’t mind for fresh made to order I’m okay. Got it paid came home and surprised hubby and WE LOVED IT KIDS ALSO!! And we’re kind of picky lol we live in Justice and don’t like driving to the city to get great Mexican food.
