We've been driving by this place for years, but when it was time to think of a breakfast place to try, it just never came up. This morning I happened to remember it, so we decided to give it a try. We arrived just after it opened at 7 am, there were only a few tables in use. We were seated quickly, and the server asked what drinks we wanted as well as leaving us menus and tableware. Three minutes later she was back with our coffee and took our order. I ordered the Chuck & Eggs; a 1/2 lb of ground chuck, two eggs, hash browns and a choice of toast or "dollar pancakes" - I went with the dollar pancakes. I had the chuck cooked medium and eggs sunny side up. My girlfriend went with The Hungry; three eggs (scrambled), three bacon, three sausage links, hash browns and she also went with the pancakes. My breakfast was excellent. The ground chuck patty was generous in size, and had a good crust of combined grilled meat as well as spices. Lots of crushed black pepper, salt, I think some cumin, maybe cayenne and garlic powder. Just a touch of pink to it. The hash browns were crispy and brown, the eggs yolks were not set, the whites had just set and there was some sizzled lace on the edges. The pancakes were good, they had small individual serving carafes for the syrup. My girlfriends breakfast was good. Her scrambled eggs were very good, everything was cooked without being dried out. She thought that the bacon was excellent, thick cut, and well done, almost crispy. Pancakes were good as well. The only thing bringing her breakfast down were the sausage links. She thought these were rather bland and kind of mealy in texture. She only ate one of the links that they brought. I definitely plan to try this place another time in the relatively near future. Next time around, we might give the sausage patties a try, see if they're better than the links. I also want to try their home-made corned beef hash. If the ground chuck's spicing was any indication, this could be a winner as well. Our coffee was okay, nothing special, but the server kept on coming by to check and see if we wanted refills, which is always a good sign. Unfortunately, I didn't think to take photos before we started in on breakfast....
Read moreThe staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. I swear I died and went to heaven. I got biscuits and gravy and a cinnamon roll. The biscuits were so fluffy and soft and looked like they were griddled after being cut open. They were so easy to cut into and were not cakey in the mouth. I have that problem a lot at other places where the biscuits crumble and/or are too cakey and I tend to choke in those cases, but not here. They were so great. The gravy was so smooth and wasn't over or under seasoned. I dare to say it was perfect in flavor, seasoning, and consistency. The sausage in the gravy was also a good soft sausage so you didn't have that weird chewy texture some sausage has. The cinnamon roll was GIANT and it was also very soft and fresh. One thing I always get saddened by at other places are hard cinnamon rolls but I promise you, these are delicious pillows with a wonderful cream cheese icing that isn't too overly rich like others I've had. My husband got the chicken fried steak with eggs, hashbrowns, and pancakes. The chicken fried steak has such a great flavor and also wasn't over seasoned. It was so tender, didn't even need a knife to cut it. You know how some places give you hashbrowns that are basically mush with a slight outer crisp? Well this isn't that place. The hashbrowns were all around perfect and crispy. No ketchup needed! The pancakes, my goodness those pancakes. They had a flavor I've never had before and were the best I've ever had. I have to guess perhaps vanilla or something similar in the batter, but they are so smooth and don't fall apart when you're trying to butter each one. We also tasted a slice of the homemade cinnamon raisin bread and that right there was a slice of heaven. It was toasted and had butter and sugar and cinnamon I believe and it was so delightful. I honestly might come to just eat a loaf of that with eggs one day. I will definitely be returning in the near future as we found a new favorite place to go. Thank you all for making amazing food and being...
Read moreMy family has eaten at this restaurant three times since moving to the area. During these occasions, I had seen people walk in to pick up orders to go. Today, I decided to do the same and called in a to-go order so my family visiting from out of town could eat a good breakfast before heading to the airport. Immediately, I was met with hostility on the phone from the waitress that took my order. She made it clear that I was inconveniencing her by calling in an order. She told me that she had other people to take care of, and more important things to do. I brushed it off assuming they were slammed, put my order in, and went to pick it up. When I arrived to the restaurant with my father, we both noticed that the restaurant was nearly empty. Again we brushed it off, and said we were there to pick up a called in order. She handed us our food, and I politely and quickly went to check the order. At this point, the waitress very aggressively made a rude comment about us not trusting her to do the order, and I immediately knew it was the same waitress that was rude on the phone. I didn’t want conflict, and so I thanked them for the food and left with my father. We were confused by the encounter, and chose to believe the waitress was having a very bad day. I spent the car ride home explaining to my father that this is not the customer service we normally experience around Omaha. To top it off, we got home, and I found a large piece of a plastic wrapper that was in my breakfast food under my toast, all of my family’s slices of toast were extremely soggy and falling apart in big mush piles. Overall, I ended up regretting my recommendation of this restaurant to my visiting family. Definitely a last...
