Lux American Grill - Papillion — Restaurant in Papillion

I normally don’t take time to review a restaurant like this, but I really feel like I need to. I want to love this place, I’ve been here now three times. The first time I had the blue cheeseburger and my wife had a quesadilla, it was pretty good. We made a reservation for Valentine’s Day and we both had their steak and lobster meal. We both ordered our steaks medium rare. They were both grayish colored and well done. The lobster tails were completely over, seasoned and well done. Tonight we gave them another chance thinking that we wanted to have a smash burger. I had the double smash burger, and my wife had the same. Mine came with two patties, hers was supposed to, and came with one. This was definitely not a smash burger. The burger was grayish colored and rubbery. I would expect the Smashburger to be smashed on the grill with caramelized crunchy bits.. This burger looked to have been boiled. Every time we’ve been here the service has been very good. And I want to love the place but, the food is not living up to what I thought it might. Quite honestly, two of the three times we have been here the food was pretty terrible. It makes me sad because I was really hoping to have a local place that I could really embrace. I am giving a two star for the food but, the service has been a five all...

Nope nope nope! I don’t know how they have 4.5 stars. I generally rate places pretty high but this was atrocious. Truffle fries, joke. Truffle flavor was nonexistent! Basic fries with some unmelted cheese on them. Horrible.

I got the kabobs and those were a nightmare. I paid for them so you can bet I ate every shred of meat. But the meat was tough as BOOTS! I was chewing forever. The vegetables tasted like they were old so I didn’t eat much of that from the kabob.

Husband got the Lux Burger. No cheese, no lettuce…just a bun and patty with some veggies on the side that looked wilted and sad. Drinks were passable but not for the price tag.

Caesar salad was wilted and depressing, I gagged. Lettuce was definitely pre-soaked in dressing prior to getting to us. It was also horrible.

The online menu definitely leads you to believe this is an elevated bar experience but it’s anything but that.

Our server was new but very polite and attentive. However we won’t be back. It was absolutely terrible food....

Update: we went back 5 days later. This time, we had Margherita Flatbread and boneless wings along with more firecracker shrimp. Everything was delicious, and serving sizes was still generous. Our server was Carter this time. Carter provided amazing service from being prompt and attentive when we sat down, beating us to refill requests, asking how everything was tasting, etc. The food came out super fast again. Each time, we have been in and out in less than an hour because the service is that outstanding.

Will definitely be back! We ordered the firecracker shrimp as an appetizer, and they were gone in a couple of minutes. They were absolutely delicious! We also ordered the deluxe burger and lobster Mac n cheese. Both were good as well. The food came out from the kitchen super fast. Our waiter, Wesley, was very attentive and provided prompt service as well. Can't wait to come back and try...
