This my 2nd time here with my family ! The 1st time was amazing! The 2nd was the worst!! The waitress was fairly new and she was fine! The cook who came the grill at my table with another family was mean and rude. He barley cooked our rice before slapping it on plates. I'm allergic to shrimp and shellfish. I told the waitress who claims she told him but however he ended up having platter with it all mixed on there and I told him no I can't eat that now he looked at me as if I did something wrong and started hollering talking in that mess and signaling people but yet the food was on the grill burning on one side. Both families was looking crazy. Some old Jackie Chan comes out and says he gone fix it in the back by itself an re cook my rice and my wife rice the kids had already starting eating waiting on the burnt chicken . He brings my food everything good. And the waitress kept apologing and it was fine . The meal was good we asked for the check and then I stated ok can I not be charged for my hibachi chicken and be charged for the regular chicken and rice because he didn't cook it correct so that one thing I couldn't enjoy. This Jackie Chan man said no and if I don't pay he will call the police and told them to call the police and I had the money in hand visible. My ticket was 60.33 I had 60.00 in my hand in plain sight and this man called the police because I asked him to change my ticket. It was really about a $5 or $6 difference anyhow that I was planning leaving for the tip if the adjustment was made indeed it was not. Evendoe my food was delicious I was treated awful. Because I'm allergic to shrimp an for some reason the waitress and cook didn't have the proper conversation because I was shown where she wrote it on the little square ticket they use to write the order on.... This was the worst ! And I actually like this place but I will not...

TL;DR: Best sushi I have had at a hibachi grill.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and experience after hearing some rather mild comments about the food. The rest of my party enjoyed chicken and steak at the hibachi grill, while I opted for 2 sushi rolls instead.

The Popcorn Lobster roll was very good. There wasn't quite enough sauce, but it's strong enough that it could be overwhelming if too much got on a single piece. The crawfish tempura was especially delightful.

The spicy tuna roll looked gorgeous as well, but was typical quality for that kind of roll. Still tasty, but not surprisingly so.

The hibachi grill itself was as usual a chaotic blast of fire, metal and food coupled with interactions such as jokes about food and throwing vegetables for us to catch in our mouths.

Unfortunately many of our party did not care for the soup or salad. This was NOT a food quality issue. The salads are served with a ginger dressing (yum) and the soups are not what you may find at other restaurants (someone once called it onion soup, but I'm fairly certain that's incorrect).

The rice is the star of any hibachi grill though and it was absolutely on point.

On subsequent visits, I've gotten to try additional sushi rolls:

Mango Shrimp Roll: fruity, fancy, and overall tasty. Crab, Tempura Shrimp, and mango. Nothing special, but I like Mango.

Rainbow Tobiko Roll: eye-catching or stomach turning depending on how you feel about tobiko. It's very pretty, but I'm not a fan...

It's been a while since we last ate at Kimono. Generally we will drive right past it to Jonesboro for a better experience. However, since it was already 8pm we decided to give it another shot.

We entered the front door, where the gentleman ask how many were in our party. We stated 6. He asked if all were on site, which two were a few blocks away. He had us wait in the lobby until the entire party was on site. Most restaurants will seat you, especially when not busy, so you can settle in and get drinks.

Much to our chagrin, once allowed to enter we found all 8 grills were not in operation, and four people seated at one grill waiting for the chef. I do not believe our less than five minute wait on the remaining party members would have limited the restaurant's ability to make a dollar. As a matter of fact, drinks would have been ordered as opposed to waters had we been able to seat early. To top it off, the gentleman was not friendly or inviting at all.

The food will was good, even though the orders weren't exactly correct. The wait staff was extremely pleasant.

Overall, not a great experience. Although it was expected. Most definitely does not garner the required...

We did not do hibachi, only sushi. The sushi menu had quite a bit of variety and lots of creative combos. It was good, but there definitely places just as good with larger roll sizes without the upcharge for the upscale vibe of this restaurant. The attached photo is 3 separate orders-- my 9 year old ate two full rolls by herself, if that gives an idea of the size. There were not any vegetarian rolls on the menu. The ambiance is really nice, though. The entry makes it feel like a more upscale place, and there is a separate bar area from the main dining room. When we were walking back to the bathroom you could also see that they had private dinner rooms that you could reserve. All in all, it was a great place to grab a quick sushi lunch while in town. We didn't have a wait to be seated, but we got there around 11:15 right after they opened. It had gotten busier as we left and there were people waiting to be seated.

I have eaten at this restaurant many times and the food here is always great. I believe the owners own Bamboo in Jonesboro so you will find the similar types of dishes and preparation here for your food. The sushi rolls are large and filling and the hibachi staples are always good too. They offer a bar and alcoholic beverages, if you prefer those with your meal. The service is always good and they have your food out quickly. They have the option of sitting at hibachi grills, regular tables, or at the bar although I believe they now charge a nominal fee to sit at a grill. Good Asian food and I will visit it again.
