After my experience last night, I have decided that Brick Oven Pizza is just a bar that's poorly disguised as a pizza place. Based on what most people were ordering, the way the place is decorated, and the quality of food service, they're way more concerned about booze than making decent pizza correctly.
The kitchen staff is apparently poorly trained, because not only do they not know the ingredients on their own pizza, but they're also incredibly slow at preparing the pizza incorrectly.
My wife, daughter, and I went in there last night (Tuesday) and it wasn't busy at all as there were several open tables. We were seated a bit after 6 pm, but it was right at 7:15 before my wife and I got a pizza we could eat.
We ordered a margherita pizza without Parmesan cheese. After about a half hour, they brought out a pizza that wasn't a margherita at all. It had chicken on it. The waitress apologized and said they'd make it right. So, about a half hour after that, we were brought out another pizza that also wasn't a margherita pizza. It was just cheese and tomatoes. Now, cheese and tomatoes are at least ingredients on a margherita, but that's not a whole margherita pizza. We were so hungry at that point that we ate it anyway. If I had ordered a cheese and tomato pizza, I might have been pleased with it, but I didn't. It took over an hour and we never got the pizza we ordered.
Fortunately, the waitress didn't charge us for the pizza, so all we were charged for was the appetizer and my daughter's food. That's why this review is two stars and not one. However, there's no good reason why a pizza place can't make a pizza that's on their menu with a LIST OF INGREDIENTS on the menu. I don't know if they need to put a menu up on the kitchen wall or what.
Maybe if we had been drinking the alcoholic beverages they're obviously so proud of, we might not have noticed how horrible they are at getting pizza right.
Again, I do at least want to thank the waitress for trying to make it right by not charging us for an...
Read moreI came here after trying to find a restaurant in Paragould that has craft beer on draft. This was the only place I could find, plus the pizza comes in many different sizes. Atmosphere: There were plenty of open tables in the main area. They have a covered area like a patio that seemed popular. Lots of families oohing and ahhing over yummy-looking, hot food. There are snippets of local history on some of the walls. I noticed sports on 1 or 2 TVs, with the volume down.
Grace, my server, was so nice and made me feel so welcome. She brought me an ice-cold sample of the Dirty Sally Brown Ale. Wow, so good. It's rare to find a brown, let alone one so good. It was a medium-bodied brew with notes of chocolate and a nice, malty backbone. They usually have 5 beers that they make on-site, and that rotate often: the brown, a stonefruit IPA, a raspberry wheat, a German Mauser, and another I forgot. Additionally, they have the usual bottled domestic beers. Naturally, they also have sodas and iced tea. I got the 8" pizza. They allowed me to modify The Big Italy, replacing the Alfredo sauce with regular pizza sauce, and removing a couple of toppings. It's a fairly thin-crust pizza with little sauce, which is just the way my spouse prefers. If you like more sauce, I suggest mentioning that to them and they will likely accommodate.
Very tasty, all in all. I highly recommend you check out the menu I attached as it just came out a week ago or so. Please note the reasonable food prices. My beer was only $4.50 for a pint. Are you kidding me? And the pizza was about $9 plus tax. Then, she found out I was military, and gave me a discount. I only went into such detail on the beer because I'm sure others are looking for good beer on draft and not finding any information when searching here. Hopefully, this helps. Thank you, Grace...
Read moreVisited on a Monday night around 5:30 pm. The place was about 50% full. Decided to get a small Pizza and salad. The combo is only at lunch time. In the evenings you have to order them separate. I got myself the Sriracha Salad with Lettuce, Tomato, Croutons, Ranch dressing and ofcourse Sriracha on top. This was so-so and a bit on the hot side. I looked and looked for a salad that offered something healthier than plain, boring, no nutrition iceberg lettuce but found none! Was hoping for Arugula or Baby Spinach etc, but just cheapo iceberg lettuce at this location. I ordered a small Italian Pizza (8") which came with Ham, Banana Peppers, Tomatoes and Cheese on a thin crust. It took about 20 minutes for the Pizza to arrive and that too with 50% occupancy in the restaurant. Pizza was mediocre at best. They only gave me a Fork with it no Knife! Perhaps there is a cutlery shortage in Paragould. The Pizza was not easy enough to pick up by hand and eat it, as it kept falling apart. The only way for me to eat it was to cut it into pieces and not having a knife really wasnt cool! I could not finish the Pizza as by this time I was getting full. I ate 3/4ths of it. Overall, a mediocre experience. Wont certainly repeat it as there are too many other...
