We were told that this is a "must eat" place when staying at Diamond Caverns RV Park. We went on Friday night, at dinner time, and it was crowded but we got a table right away. Everyone looked very local, like they come here once a week. Food; I ordered the all-you-can-eat catfish dinner, with 3 sides (mac 'n cheese, bbq beans and spiced apples). The mac 'n cheese had nearly no flavor, and tasted like a poorly made boxed brand. I ate one bite and that was all. The bbq beans tasted like canned. Also, meh. The apples were ok. The catfish itself was good and very hot but the coating was salty and seemed like one of those they sell in the seafood dept from a grocery store. My wife wanted the chicken strips but they were out, so she got grilled chicken pieces, and a baked potato and spiced apples. The chicken, she said, tasted like Perdue or Tyson chicken from a bag. Decor: I realize we're just visitors here, but the little Donald Trump plastic statue on the front counter was a huge turn-off for me. They did have an abundance of workers here, so service was very good. And the price was also very good for the amount of food you got, I just wish it had been better.

Update 2024 We've been back twice this year and both times have been great. Their catfish is still amazing, the mash potatoes are now normal and they have the BEST OKRA!👍👍 No joke! If you love okra, this is the best place to get it. I think the only thing that has changed is the tarter, I don't think it tastes the same, but my taste buds may have changed🤷‍♂️ who knows. YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE, PERERBABLY ON FRIDAY. Review from 2020 So my dad and I decided to try this place and found out it was the restaurant that used to be in smiths grove. Their food was so yummy. The only thing my dad didnt like was the cabbage and I didn't like how the mash potatoes were made, the mash potatoes was just the insides of a baked potato. I tried the cabbage and it didn't have any seasonings tasted plain. But other than those two things everything was great! Service was great too. Their rolls are awesome. Just need some cheese between it! LOL. I would recommend ppl trying it out at least once. Their catfish was amazing! Best tarter I ever tasted also.

Miss Betty's Diner: A Hidden Gem Off the Highway

Sometimes, the best culinary surprises come from the most unassuming places. That's exactly what my family and I discovered when we stumbled upon Miss Betty's Diner during an early morning road trip. A short detour off the freeway led us to a spot that, admittedly, didn't initially scream "gourmet." But what it lacked in fancy decor, it more than made up for in genuine warmth and delicious food.

Let's be clear: Miss Betty's isn't trying to be a Michelin-starred establishment. It's a classic, down-to-earth diner, and it excels at that. If you're looking for white tablecloths and pretentious presentations, you'll be disappointed. But if you crave hearty, honest-to-goodness breakfast fare served with a smile, you've hit the jackpot.

The real star of our visit, however, was our server, April (and a very happy birthday to her!). She was an absolute delight, radiating positivity and patience. Traveling with kids can be challenging, but April handled our little ones with grace and humor, making us feel instantly welcome. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare and truly appreciated.

And the food? Simply fantastic. Our breakfast arrived piping hot and fast, a crucial factor for my wife, who is notoriously picky about temperature. The portions were generous, the flavors were comforting, and everything tasted like it was made with care. It was the perfect fuel for a long day on the road.

Miss Betty's Diner is a testament to the fact that you don't need frills to create a memorable dining experience. Sometimes, all it takes is good food, friendly service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. If you're passing through and looking for a genuine taste of small-town hospitality, don't hesitate to pull over. You won't be...
