The Ridge Diner — Restaurant in Park Ridge

This was our first and absolutely LAST time here! Myself, my wife, and our two adult kids. We walked in and possibly the owner or night mgr. sat us didn’t say much and gave a little smile. We noticed the table next to us was just a little bit larger so we looked at it and a waiter said sure you can go over there the tables are just a bit larger so we scooted over assuming he would be our waiter. Well unfortunately he wasn’t. This older waitress gray hair came over was extremely short with us clearly had a bad attitude and it seemed painful for her to answer any question and when we weren’t fully ready just kept walking away. I ordered 3 over medium eggs; Taylor ham and rye toast and a coffee. First of all I LOVE coffee and this coffee was absolutely horrible. So weak and or watered down that I swear it had no taste to it. Now either she has a real bad attitude or a real bad hearing problem OR the damn chef can’t read or a combo of all. Because receipt did say three eggs (I received TWO eggs) but only meat was written on there not what I specifically asked for. Yes I clearly asked for Taylor Ham and got regular ham! My daughter asked for sweet potato fries with her order; got charged for them; but out came regular fries. I think the picture is clear here. Stay away. We did not say anything at all because we are not about making a scene maybe all was having a bad night because the waitress booked out of there with some guy (maybe her husband) who she was yelling and gesturing at the whole time! She did ask if we wanted anything else and we were like noooooo wayyyy thank you!! And she just left our check and left the diner without saying on me word to us. I know most would’ve complained we were just too tired to do that and like I said at this point just wanted to leave. And YES we did leave a $10 tip on a $60+ dollar bill that was way not worth the price. I really should have left nothing because that’s what that waitress deserved. However there are other staff (bussing crew) where it is not their fault that the waitress was horrible with her service oh and I swear we were so nice to her but oh well lesson learned never ever going...

The place is filthy. Just look at the table and the floor area where you sit.. look at the glass and the wood trim and wall panels. Everything is dusty. Dead flies and bugs dried up and dead everywhere. The cups for soda, water, and juice are cloudy and dirty looking. The plates they serve your food on have caked on crusty food underneath and on edges!!! Imagine the plate is dirty and they just put your food on it. WE WILL NEVER RETURN!! Never ever going back to this garbage excuse for a diner. The short male manager is always in a bad mood. Literally watched him punch the kitchen door so hard one time while cursing to himself, I literally laughed because I have never seen a manager of a diner or restaurant act this way. The jerky manager, I could look past if the food was good. The place is filthy and the food is garbage. Another old school Diner DOWN the TUBES!! If you talk to locals most say the same thing. It was good years ago but has gotten so bad and poorly run it’s irreparable. Game over!! My advice…..SELL IT TO PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY GIVE A DAMN!! They are lucky I didn’t post a picture of the filthiness in this place. ...

Today was my first time trying this dinner out, and I was very dissatisfied with my experience. Their menu prices don’t match with ones online. I ordered two pastrami and cheese sandwiches and was charged over $30. The man who may or may not be the owner (not friendly at all) said that I was charged $3 additional for cheese, but never once indicated that cheese didn’t come on the sandwich. What kind of sandwich doesn’t come with cheese unless specified otherwise? And the man who took my order automatically asked what kind of cheese I wanted when I ordered, so one would assume that it was included like with any other sandwich. Since it wasn’t, he should’ve made me aware of the up charge especially when he was the one to offer it. Then to make matters worse, the sandwich was so thin in nearly chipped a tooth biting into it! No where near the quality or quantity of a $15 sandwich. I don’t mind paying for what I want when it’s worth it, but this? I’m so disappointed! My usual spot was unfortunately closed, and there I could get two sandwiches, far meatier for under $30. A...
