I always found it odd that a cozy breakfast place wouldn't open early. My wife and I found ourselves ready for a nice breakfast early on Saturday and found our normal choice for breakfast not open for another half-hour. Not a big deal you say, except when you're hungry and sitting in front of a closed restaurant 25 minutes from your house. We decided to be adventurous and use the breakfast near me feature on Google maps and discovered this gem not that much farther away. We ordered from the new menu, which was new to us anyway and were delighted at the selection. I also loved the fact that you could get any omelet served on a skillet, which I chose. The potatoes were absolutely the best (I usually get grits, because potatoes are not commonly a strongpoint). My omelet contents were mixed in with my potatoes and the eggs were served on top, over-light (sorry, no picture). It came out on a smoking hot griddle as you would normally see fajitas served and created a slight crust on the potatoes, which I found delicious. The coffee was also delicious, even after 3 cups and mini-creamers.
The last thing I will note is that despite it being early in the morning on a dreary day, the staff were delightful. Our server, Sarah and her co-worker couldn't have been nicer. They greeted everyone with genuine joy and were OK with needy customers.
We'll certainly be heading back. Probably to try the lunch menu which looked great! To top it off, my wife and I found the town charming and can't wait to...
Read moreDefinitely not returning. Went for National French Toast Day and they advertised as a SPECIAL 3 French Toast w/ two toppings for 9.99 but in the menu it’s 3 French toast or 3 pancakes for 7.99 and the toppings are 1.00 each. So how is this a SPECIAL? Then when having our order taken the waitress knew this was our first time there and never told us about the almost 2.00 up charge for the pepper and onions. Then when receiving the check the prices were more than what was posted in the menu. When asked why she explained that the prices I see are what are charged if I’m paying with a credit card. But anywhere in this country I’ve gone too if there is a credit card upcharge than it is a percentage added to the total bill not each individual item. And was also never told that the price for two French toast was the same price as three. If that was known than I would have just got more for my buck. But I feel like it’s a small place in a small town on a small treat and no one really knows about it. But after this experience who cares if anyone else knows. Watch your check. They added the credit card fee then added the taxes on top of that. So what probably should have costed 35 40 ended up costing me $55. SMH. And I drive from Delaware just to see what it was all about and...
Read moreWe were on our way to grab breakfast at the Speckled Hen when we saw a friend post about Main St. Cafe so we decided to try it. When we walked up, there were 4 or 5 kids blocking the front door asking everyone money. I ordered the stuffed french toast and thought it would be similar to Kelly’s in Thorndale (they put a few globs of sweetened cream cheese between the toast), but there wasn’t a drop of cream cheese on my plate. When asked, they said there should have been a drizzle of cream on top. They really shouldn't call it stuffed french toast though. They offered to bring me some cream cheese but I’ve worked in restaurants before and I NEVER send food back or make adjustments. Pros: My bacon was perfectly crisp! And although I was disappointed, I guess they saved me a couple hundred calories by not “stuffing” my french toast. Hubby had an omelet with potatoes and a biscuit. His meal was great, the biscuit tasted homemade. Our waitress, who seemed like the manager or possibly the owner,...
