My fiance remembered this Thai place that we had visited over a year ago and as I was craving some spicy and delish Nam Sod, I sId "let's do it!". It was maybe a 10 minute drive to get to the location on State Road 7/(or 441, as I usually say) and as soon as we opened the door I had a very pleasant rememberance of this restaurant. Small, intimate dining area and small but efficient bar/reception area is straight ahead and three beautiful ladies had very warm smiles and words of welcome for us. We asked to see the menu as we intended to just order as a take-away. Also, as I stated earlier I had to have some Nam Sod!! I wanted this dish starting 3 weeks earlier and was unable to get it. Guess where I was disappointed upon finding out that they no longer had this dish on their menu? Boon's Asian Bistro, on Atlantic Ave just about 1/8 mile East of the Turnpike and East of 441/State Rd. 7. Now, I know this will sound, oh any number of adjectives like: stupid, corny etc. but I do ordered FOR my beau. He trusts me to oder things he will eat from menu selections that are a bit "exotic" for him in that he has just not had the opportunity to try the cuisine or he most likely doesn't really quite know what the flavors will be like! So tonight after asking the de riguer "what protein (and then I further explain: do you want beef, chicken, pork or also shrimp, squid or scallops?) then: Noodles or Rice? So after the lengthy Q & A session, the choice was to be Mongolian Beef!! Great choice, instant hit - just had to get that out there QUICK! Before I detail any part of our meal, I have to give a quick shout out of Thank You to our superb Chef, I will do research to find out the gentleman's name. He handed us both a small bowl of a little complimentary salad. However this was no iceburg and not much else salad, au contraire, this was Tuna Tataki ( at least to my recollection) and it was soooo good. Small pieces of fresh Tuna served over a bed of Daikon, cut to resemble noodles, (much like linguini) in a delicate but sturdy dressing. Fresh lemon zest generously dressed on top. What the French might call "an amuse bouche!" this dish was quite a surprise to me and definitely wanted. We enjoyed that while conversing with the gentleman seated to our left at the small bar. Before we knew it, and exactly when we finished our Tuna Tataki our order was brought up to the front. It was in a large brown paper bag, expertly packed for travel. Not one dish with its delicious juices was spilt. We got home, unpacked and proceeded to dive in to our meal, I adjusted my spice level from the extra dried chili and sweet pepper sauce that I asked to have on the side and well, it was DIVINE!! This might not be the most popular dish for Thai, however, in my estimation, it show the true flavors and spices that are typically used in this cuisine, all in one! I have had this same dish a number of times at the same establishment and then once at a few more. It has not always been the same nor was it always great. I had in one place that made me think, "I don't really want the rest". Which is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever said, when talking about Food, crikey! As for the Mongomian beef, Big Hit A+++, hubby loved it. I tasted it also and it was suprisingly extremely tender and flavorful with a great trio of tender- crisp vegetables (mushrooms, scallion, white onion) served with fragrant Jasmine rice (my fave). There is one other GOOD thing about our restaurant/food choice for this evening, THE PORTION SIZES, were so big we will have lunch for tomorrow! Overall, I have to say this restaurant is fantastic, never dissapoints. If you want fresh very delicious Thai fare, go to...
Ā Ā Ā Read morei ordered from boons on doordash twice. i got a kids katsu box, thai tea, and miso soup. everything tasted great, but for the thai tea, how they packaged it was odd. idk if it was the driver or the store tbh but when it arrived to me the drink was wrapped in plastic wrap, placed in the bag, and it fell over of course so it spilled on everything. idk why it just wasnāt carried separately AS A DRINK. at least most of it remained in the cup. the second time i got a duck soup and for the price paid, kind of disappointed. the menu is very pricey. UPDATE: I always had this food through doordash but this was the first time i've sat down to eat here. We came on an extremely rainy day. Easy parking even though I still got soaked running in from the lot. It wasn't busy and the lady and younger guy that served us were so nice. The food was delicious, inexpensive, and nicely and quickly prepared. Really big portions too. I had a kid's chicken katsu and that was even too much for me. The Thai tea is delicious, but very sweet. Def bring home and add more creamer or milk to it. More to drink! My cousin liked the kid's chicken lo mein, and mom loved her...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrder from here when I need delivery, won't be again. They always mess something up, usually the sauces. I typically get eel sauce instead of soy sauce, and then get soy sauce with rolls that specifically advertise eel sauce. I've never received spicy mayo with rolls that the menu clearly states come with spicy mayo. If you try to ask them to make sure they include the correct sauces they try to charge you extra. Despicable.
Gave them several tries and they've yet to get an order right, so I officially give up. It's especially frustrating because you can't "fix" a delivery order so you end up paying for what you didn't get and eating the wrong food anyway. Thankfully I usually have my own soy sauce I the fridge so at least I can somewhat compensate for their stupidity.
The sushi itself is ok, but nothing to wow at, which makes the mistakes all the more...
