On 11/07/2031, a Sunday, I experienced poor, long service. This was the day of Time Change where the clocks "fall back" an hour. The girl manning the Register was "in Training" and clearly inexperienced. Lots of "deer in headlight" looks and she never even answered my question about whether I could use "coupon code." With difficulty ordering I never broached the subject of entering my Five Stars loyalty program" number (my phone # at Register), ... [I] only remembered so "lost a visit" and another "lost coupon code" in coming here today. My outdoor table was dirty so I spoke up and they were real slow about coming to clean it. Food started to take forever so after discussing same with a cyclist Customer who just arrived I spoke up about the DELAY too.. Young Manager who seemed to be training the clueless Cashier tried to make the delay my fault by immediately interrogating me... well,, "Do you have your sign?"When food item FINALLY arrived the mean Manager (same guy who had tried to blame me re sign) came out constantly calling me "you guys." Not sure his grasp of English BUT after about 4 times of him calling me "you guys" I protested by advising "I'm just one person." Perturbing 'cause I am also a female (not a guy ... at all). So, anyway, Manager brought out my food in a ToGo box saying they ran out of plates and this all they had and apparently also out of silverware as he tried to give me a set of plastic utensils but I declined the "plastic" utensils telling him "no utensils." Funny (really not so funny), I saw other customers who "sat" after me receiving real wooden platters (plates) to eat off of. My Avocado Breakfast Toast had burnt bacon crumbles on it, however, the Cheese, Avocado, and POACHED egg were tasty. Not a very good experience. I ended up eating with my hands. My espresso had SF Caramel in it which, although place is named Carmela and am always lookin' for SF) did not taste good to me in my espresso drink. Overall, 3 stars (really 2 'cause I feel sorry for Carmela in the pandemic.) Manager needs to be more polite from the start ... not at the end when he is apologizing about this Sunday fiasco. UPDATE: Shocking response I received from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYou know this place use to have great service. What happened!?!?! I came in today and ordered 2 coffees..... but it took me 5 mins to just order my coffee because it all of a sudden became acceptable to have 4 workers sitting on their phones when there is a customer standing right in front of you. As is said 2 drinks. An iced caramel latte and a iced mocha latte with almond milk. Must have upset them to have to leave their phones for a second, so much so that I sat for 30 minutes before I got up and came to the counter. Now I distinctly remember the girl telling me she would call my name when my order is ready. I get up there, one drink is sitting on the counter and one no where to be found. Me staring must have jogged memory because all of a sudden oh iced mocha. Now the most insulting part to me is that they started talking to each other in Spanish with me standing right there. Iām all for speaking your language to friends, just make sure that the person that your are talking about doesnāt speak it too and just be truthful and say you forgot the order. Now you would think that if you forgot someoneās order youād put a little pride in your work to make up for that mistake..... I just must be old school that way. She started making my drink, then forgot it was almond milk... once the milk was in forgot that it was mocha. Finally put the mocha in and didnāt even mix the drink like they use to. All in all I hope the management sees this and has a wake up call. I use to love coming here but it has just gotten progressively worse each time I do. If I wanted this poor quality of service then I would just go to Dunkin and spend less then...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited this coffee shop for the first time today, on the Fourth of July, and completely fell in love with it. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations.
The food was not only beautifully presented but absolutely delicious. Every dish I ordered was full of flavor, and the ingredients blended together perfectly. You can tell thereās real passion and attention to detail behind the menu.
Now, the coffee⦠wow. I ordered a cortado made by one of the baristas (I believe his name is Santiago, he wears glasses), and I genuinely donāt know what kind of magic he worked, but it was hands-down one of the best coffees Iāve had in years. Rich, smooth, and unforgettable, what I saw it was coffee from their own farm in Costa Rica.
What really impressed me even more was Santiagoās incredible customer service. As I enjoyed my meal, I noticed how at least five different couples came in and were welcomed like family. He knew their names, their usual orders, how they liked their drinks and even wished one couple a happy anniversary. As someone whoās worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, that kind of connection and consistency is rare and says so much about the culture of this place.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the manager clearly leads by example, you can tell she inspires her team rather than just supervising them.
I almost never leave reviews, but this place truly deserves the recognition. I canāt wait to go back and try more of the menu....
