Only open for a few months (as of April 26, 2023), short drive for effective sushi. If you've never experienced something like this, it's small plates of two or three pieces of sushi (and some other items) covered with a see-through lid. You take what you want as items come by on a conveyor belt.
Some of the sushi rolls are raw, some cooked. Some are nigiri or sashimi.
Some of the plates have signs on them, for example, "Miso Soup" - you take the plate with the sign, put it on your table, and a waitstaff will bring you what's on the sign. This also applies to some of the rolls that need to be specially prepared.
It's great for people like me who don't want to eat full rolls but prefer to have smaller portions leading to a wider variety of sushi. Plus, the stock is constantly being updated by the chefs.
You can order off the menu as well (each table has one) in case that's your style. They do offer some tantalizing soups that I have yet to sample, but, let's face it, most of us go there for the fun of grabbing a plate of sushi from the conveyor belt - and there ain't nothing wrong with that!
Downsides:
Sitting with your back towards the conveyor means you have to wait until things are next to you to see what's there. Best strategy: sit facing what's coming towards you, or, get one of the chairs at the very end where you can see both directions at the same time.
Quality is good but it's not top tier - and this is by no means meant to be anything negative as most sushi joints are "good but not top tier" Thus for the price per plate, this will work absolutely fine for sushi enthusiasts who aren't expecting fish-caught-two-hours-ago quality.
Busy Sometimes this place is jam-packed and there's a wait for a table/chair. Best bet is to get there during non-peak times. I suggest going when you are hungry, not famished, when the dinner crowd hasn't hit yet or after they've all left.
Give it a whirl. It's no more expensive than going to a "Traditional" sushi joint, and less so in most cases.
NOTE: As of this writing, they do NOT have their liquor license, so no sake just yet . However, we have been informed the license is in the works. Just not yet. Soon. Soon...
Anyhow, go! ...
Read moreIt was our first time here and it was so fun! We made reservations in advance and went at 4pm, which was a great decision because it got very busy right as we left. The sushi was good, my favorite was the pink lady with mango salsa on top. The salmon sashimi was delicious and very fresh. We tried the green tiramisu and it was not very good, bitter and very frozen. However the green tea cheesecake looked tasty and probably would be the better option. For drinks they offer Pepsi products, ramune, teas and a few other options.
You have a bunch of options on the conveyor belt. I ate mostly pink and red plates. They have small bites like seaweed salad, edamame, goyza, spring rolls, etc. those are all green plates and cheaper/ Vegetarian. My boyfriend and I raked up over 15 plates because we wanted to try everything. We were able to use the vending machine for a prize, which was very cute.
Since it was busy we had to wait a bit for our server which was totally fine, you can also order menu items to the table that are not on the belt.
We tried two fluffy cakes but there were other small desserts floating around. They also offer kid friendly foods and drinks such as juice and chicken nuggets/fries.
The experience was super fun, it took us about 45 minutes to eat because we took our time, but it’s definitely a lot quicker than normal sushi restaurants. I think I enjoyed the novelty more than the taste of the sushi, but we would definitely go back to try more!
I highly recommend calling ahead because it seemed to be a long wait if you didn’t! They offer booths and a few bar seats. We sat at the bar...
Read moreSigns with names of menu items were all over the conveyor but the sushi or items did not correlate to any of the signs. When I asked our 3rd server about this (since the first 2 had forgotten we existed/each thought the other would service our table), she said next time we should just order directly with the server. Our server(s) had not checked on us once in the 20 minutes we were there after we had received our drinks. I said this and also stated this defeats the purpose of the conveyor and how would I be able to tell what I'm choosing without studying the menu and identifying the quickly moving items, how they would THEY identify what items are running low on the belt or how long they had been on there and she just shrugged. When I asked for the check, they stated a total and took my card. While they did so, I added up the total in my head and realized the total I was told could no way be my bill. Sure enough, the waitress shows a list of items I did not order on the receipt. She at least came back and asked if my check was correct before charging me, to which I said no. She got me the correct check and I paid and left.
The spring rolls were absolute garbage, was the mushiest and worst I've ever had. Of the few sushi rolls we had, they were 3/5 stars at best. Wish I could tell you what they were, but none of the signs matched the items they were next to so I'll never know.
Don't bother, go to a good sushi...
