The food was spot on. Crawfish were excellent. Fries were huge and delicious. Fish was yummy. Shrimp and grits were perfect. Hush puppies, look all the food was good by the time we got it and there's the problem. Everything takes about five times longer than it feels like it should. The problem here seems to be that everyone is working really really hard but not enough people are working smart nor working together. They really really really need to learn from Lulu's in gulf shores and the blue gill on the causeway and also the oyster house. Those little devices where they page you when they're ready for your party could be a start because checking in with the hostess is a nightmare. It feels like no one is in charge at all. They're all stepping all over each other working and they just stay covered up. You can see it in all the worker's faces... y'all are working them too hard. They need a clearer plan on hosting, give people something to do while they wait for a table (corn hole or outdoor bar), for god sakes do something about the flies. It's not just people opening the door. I've been to countless outdoor dining areas without that problem. And refills shouldn't take fifteen minutes to get. Everyone at our table was out of drinks. The guys refilling the cooler or bringing in the food or whatever they had were so ridiculously filthy if I had seen them first I wouldn't have stayed. All in all I think it took us two hours and twenty minutes. I don't mind waiting outside for a table. That's not the problem, the problem is trying to get too many people in there at one time and then the dining experience is miserable because everyone is trying so hard to be fast that they're making mistakes and not working together as a team (I don't know the exact cause of the logjams). So yeah, drove over an hour and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy because once inside o swear it felt like being in a trap. And those security cameras are doing what exactly? Why watch people eat? And I had a snail in my crawfish that was supposed to be an appetizer but instead came out with our entrees so good luck figuring out where to...
Read moreUpdate: I've been here several times, and my previous review still applies. Went to Bozo's Too this time. Arrived about an hour before closing and we're promptly seated in the bar area as requested. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive we got 1lb shrimp and the steamboat which happened to be $30 this visit. It's Bozo's so everything was really good. I will say that the medium seasoning they used on my shrimp was very garlic forward. It reminded me more of Florida style garlic shrimp than a traditional southern steamer platter. Still good, just different than what I was really expecting. I usually just go for the crawfish or a poboy from the market, so this was my first experience with their steamed seafood. All the crab was really good and cooked perfectly as well. My only complaint is they don't have a listing for Bozo's too, separate from the market so I can give it a proper review.
Be prepared to wait, but worth it. I haven't had their steamed seafood but the crawfish and deli items are legit. Deli portions are huge. Crawfish prices vary during the year/season but are consistently cheaper than anywhere else I've seen for cooked crawdads, and taste the best from what I've had. Fyi there are three lines, left to right; crawfish, fresh/steamed seafood, deli. If you want something from all three, guess what, bring two friends or wait in all three. You can call ahead for the deli, but I've never been able to get through. This may sound discouraging, but it's busy for a reason. Charge up your phone and come...
Read moreA little disappointed... We live in Lucedale. My grandpa stopped by on his way home to get 2 oyster poboys and himself a roast beef poboy. When he got home and we opened them, instead of oysters, we had shrimp. I called the restaurant and was asked if we could bring them back tonight. I told her unfortunately not, since we live in Lucedale. I was then told to "stick them in the fridge and bring them back tomorrow. They have to have proof." I then said that we had planned to eat them since we didn't have anything fixed for dinner, and was told there was nothing they could do without proof. I asked, "Do you not put customers' names on a list when things like this happen, to maybe give them a free side or something to make it right?" I was told that if he brought a picture of it tomorrow, they could refund the difference - $6.
Apparently $6 will make or break this business. I have had MCDONALD'S give a completely free new order when they were wrong. I was not expecting anything above and beyond for free, not expecting whole new free sandwiches after eating the shrimp ones, just expecting the $6 difference to be corrected - it didn't have to be corrected with money, but a side/drink/something with our next order would have done to make up for the difference we paid and the inconvenience.
Very little about the error, very much about the customer service received.
The shrimp poboys did not disappoint, hence the 2 stars. Picture below of the poboys, including my grandma...
