Don & Bert's Custard Stand — Restaurant in Paulsboro

My wife and myself decided to try this place on a whim. I ordered a cheesesteak with mushrooms for about 8 bucks. My lady gets a "superburger" for 5. when we asked what that was she said it's a bigmac so ok let's give it a try. 5 bucks for cheese fries, almost 5 for a chocolate milkshake and a few bucks for a coke, total cost just under 26 bucks

The coke was garbage but i understand why, the water quality is terrible so they turn the syrup up to cover it but without adjusting the co2 it makes it taste flat with a dash of Chlorine

The milkshake tasted ok but was it worth about 5 bucks for a 20oz cup? No 3.50 and they'll still make a profit

The fries are put in a sundae style cup which makes it hard to enjoy without mashing the fries getting into the cup but I'll give them props for using an actual melted cheddar cheese sauce instead of cheese wiz and going in layers to get all the fries

The burger patty was a frozen burger you can buy a dozen from shop rite for 4 bucks. The patty had an off taste almost acidic and had more lettuce then anything else I'll give them props for using potato buns but they went too big Mac and had a bun in the middle so the cook either threw away a top or is waiting to make another "superburger"

The "cheesesteak" and i put it in quotes because i don't care what the cook says. If you've ever eaten steakums once that is a taste that will haunt you forever and you know that you just don't use Steakums for other then Guantanamo punishment. I'm guessing the sandwich roll was 6 inches maybe almost 7 if I'm being generous. 3 slabs of steakums meat, a few slices if canned mushrooms and 2 slices of American. That's not worth 5 bucks let alone 8. You give a mom and pop shop a chance and you get overpriced and terrible quality for the food

Now I'll give them credit. I went in and told them we were disgusted by the food and when she offered to make fresh we outright refused. Why did she think it was going to be better the next time plus who knows what would happen when we're not watching. You never take that chance. She then gave us a full refund even when we only asked for a refund for the sandwiches they refunded for everything

This place is an ice cream place and don't do any more then ice cream because if you mess up a burger, cheesesteak, and a coke then you shouldn't have a grill

I'm giving 2 stars because how quickly we got a full refund even when i only wanted a refund...

Don and berts has always been great. However after what i went threw me or my family wont ever be going back there. Friday night its jammed pack they are super busy. I ordered 3 cheese fries, quarter pounder, one regular cheese burger and a ice cream cone. Total came to $24 something. Gave the little girl ( she was no older then 13) $40 she gave me my $16 change. She the proceeds to say sir i only rang u up for one cheese fry. Me being non observant hand her a $10 bill she gives me my change as im waiting i think to myself dam $33 for some fries and burgers this place is a scam i look at the menu and total it up it comes too $24 i realize she just messed up. i wait maybe 5 minutes too talk to her. When i finnaly get back to the window the little girl says sir i diddnt mess up. I explain my case she starts getting nervous. I made her add it on the register came too $24. I said ok if i already paid u $24 total why did u make me pay an additional $10 for 2 fries u forgot she says yea i forgot to add the 2. I said no u diddnt it came too $24 wich i paid u owe me $10 she then proceeds to take the receipt tray out and go threw transactions(she wasnt even looking at mine i seen the tray) Looks at me and says oh ur right sorry. That girl knew exactly what the hell she did. god knows How many people are getting ripped off because they arent paying attention. By the time i fixed the matter i get home(5) minute drive the fries were cold as ice and burgers luke warm it just ruiend my night. Never again will i spend my money at tht...
