A few reviewers here take exception to the customer service. I’d like to suggest that in Pawhuska, OK it may be difficult to attract world class service. This isn’t to let Charlie’s off the hook but it ought to give us all pause. What the PW team has done in this town is amazing. They have to rely on Pawhuska to support their vision. That means, from what I can tell, counting on a younger demographic of mostly student employees. While training should be a focus in regard to customer experience I don’t count it against the business in this case.
It’s a very small space and while most of the candy is modern and easily available at a local gas station it’s an experiential outing for us and we were happy to snag a couple items for the kiddo.
Charlies is really about the ice cream. Great cones, great ice cream, reasonable price. Try one of their speciality chocolate dipped waffle cones! It’s a great cap to the end of the day and if you’ve got kids use “ice cream” as your bribe for the day.

Read moreTraveling through northern Oklahoma from California, after wandering through The Mercantile, I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Charlie's Sweet Shop. The architecture and decor takes you back to the early 20th century, and the vast amount of trays stacked with taffy and candy tempts the most restrained of customers. After much deliberation we chose the strawberry ice cream which had the perfect balance of cream and citrus, not too sweet but definitely decadent. The fresh berries made it truly exceptional. The gluten free double chocolate muffin is also highly recommended - not unlike a lava cake, it's dense and again, just the right amount of sweetness. All in all highly recommended, but once again, it wa Amelia and her colleague who made the visit...
Read moreThe ice cream here was fantastic with lots of unique flavor options and toppings! They have candies and other cute merch available. (T-shirts, etc) the decor and setup of everything seemed well thought out.
The customer service, however, was not good. The staff seemed careless. My ice cream almost fell off my cone when it was handed to me, and the employee seemed very annoyed when I asked for a cup. We saw two employees roll their eyes at a third employee when he dropped something. AND the staff were on their phones at the cash register which while customers were up at the counter. Those are just a few examples. We also sat at a dirty table because there were no clean ones, and a lot of the candy and other merchandise was out of stock. The other PW locations we visited were very different with great customer service and a well kept place so we were surprised with the service...
