This place has been around since my childhood. The food hasn't changed a whole lot which is a great thing. The combination plate has always been my favorite. The carnitas lunch special is pretty great too. Fajitas here aren't like most Tex-Mex places you are used to. There's not show of smoke or a cast iron plate, just Fajitas...

The service has always been great. You see the regulars that come in and the servers are always a little cheeky but very good at what the do. Some of them have been there close to a decade.

Unfortunately, another thing that hasn't changed much is the building. Though it's iconic with its hexagonal shape, the inside is beginning to look run down. The light fixtures old florescent lights... some rusted... some just missing with the wires hanging out of the ceiling.

Overall, a great experience of Texas...

I'm a visitor from out of town and I've been to allot of Mexican restaurants. I am usually pleasantly surprised at how fast, courteous and clean they are. However, I can not give this one a good review on any of that. The service was extremely slow (15 minutes to be greeted and offered a beverage and take my order and another 45 minutes to get my food). The food was the only good thing about this visit! It was very dirty, many dirty tables and allot of flies. The wait staff was very slow and unattentive. The food gets 3.5 stars though. Chips and salsa are good, that's about it. Older, thin, short lady is RUDE! She asked who had ordered an asado plate told her it was me. the waiters usually put the food down in front of you so I waited for her to do so and she tells me "Here, get it!" The plate was hot by the way. She hardly came to the table. I had to wait awhile to eat my food due to not having utensils. They never have enough staff and it's ALWAYS full.
