This is an odd review to make for this restaurant. We were heading south from Birmingham after a long visit at the hospital and chose this over many other Mexican places based on reviews. Some of what they did was fantastic and yet a couple things were on the bottom end of service. We got to the restaurant at 2:50 pm, and spent a while looking through the very large menu. Because it took a while to see what we wanted to get, we did not place the order until a couple minutes after 3:00 p.m. when I asked about getting the lunch menu deals, that was now declined. And it wasn't a very friendly way of doing so. I ordered the steak burrito meal and my wife got another meal to go. When we got in our vehicles and started to check out the food, I noticed after eating some of the rice and beans and vegetables already that my burrito was ground beef and not steak. That's a massive difference if you look at what you wanted to eat in addition to the price it should have been. That being said, the amount of beef that they put in the burrito was massive and tasted very good. My wife's meal was also very good and had a lot of food in the to-go container. The chips and salsa are also very good. So that's why the review grade is right in the middle. I believe all the food quality here is probably on the high end of Mexican restaurant quality but we just happened to experience what seemed to be staff member that wasn't very helpful or friendly and I paid for something and receive something incorrect of less quality. I feel I was overcharged & when I brought it to the managers attention he told me there were no substitutions period & he would not even discuss $2 with me (his exact words). I was extremely insulted & he told me he did not care (his exact words). I told him I would never be back & he told me he did not care (his exact words). He said those words to me. I was not being ugly even tho he deserved it after the way he treated me but he took it on himself to let me know how little he cared about my business. We as consumers need to stop supporting businesses who do not care about us. They do not deserve to be in business. We need to as a group start supporting the businesses that treat us like they want our business & put businesses run by rude people like this man out of business. I implore all to stop going to this restaurant. Truth be told their food has gone down hill over the past few years anyway. Let's support businesses who want our money, who treat us with respect. Read moreThe service and food were mediocre. I felt like we were treated less than the other customers. I’m not sure if it was because of the color of our skin, which is not much darker than some of the workers, or they have a mindset that we weren’t going to tip. The first waiter came around the corner, looked at me then turnaround. I guess he went to get the waitress to help us. She brought the appetizer and beverages and took our order. She didn’t come back until it was time for the check. So no refill or courtesy check ins to see if we needed anything. A guy brought our food. It was lukewarm. We sat there for about 10 minutes before the waitress came back to ask if we wanted to-go boxes and cleaned off some of the plates. Another guy brought the ticket. The girl at the register was not pleasant to say it nicely. She didn’t speak or ask how it was. Then she snatched my card out of my had. And no, she didn’t say thank you.
