Kelari Taverna & Bar is a HIDDEN GEM that effortlessly earns its well-deserved 5 stars. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with an ambiance that transports you to the heart of Greece. My friends and I ordered a bunch of different plates to pick at. The options did NOT DISAPPOINT.
The authenticity of the Greek cuisine at Kelari is unparalleled. Every dish, from the moussaka to the Baked Haddock, is a flavorful journey that captures the essence of Greek food. Truth be told, I don't even like fish, and the Haddock was out of this world. I can't stop thinking about the Choriatiki, (Traditional Greek Salad) [see picture]. The grilled Octopus [see picture] was perfect, the Spanakopita was mouth watering; the little cheese pies were amazing; and Mediterranean Pizza- WAS TO DIE FOR. You can taste the fresh ingredients.
The restaurant's authentic traditional Greek food extended beyond the menu. The art from Greece adorning the walls adds an extra layer of cultural richness and charm. It wasn't just a meal; it was a visual and gastronomic journey through the streets of Greece. It had the cutest decor. I hate that I didn't grab photos. The restaurant has a warm and family-friendly vibe. The atmosphere is inviting, making it the perfect place for a casual family dinner, a gathering of friends, or a "fancier than normal dinner." If you are looking for a romantic setting, Kelari is also an ideal spot for dates. The intimate ambiance, with the candlelit tables and the soft notes of Greek music, created a backdrop for a memorable evening. My friends and I commented repeatedly how it felt like we were at home, among family and friends enjoying our night. But you also felt chic at the table. The restaurant is the perfect balance between cozy, sophisticated, romantic, and family-friendliness charm.
But, I think what truly set Kelari apart was the attentive owner and her staff. They were attentive and took the time to explain to us all of the details of every dish and gave amazing recommendations when we couldn't pick what to order.
Kelari is a must-visit that promises a delightful experience for all. I can't...
Read moreHate to be a contrarian, to all these 5 star reviews, but no matter how good the food is, if it is overpriced, based on the portions, then it will part of the reviews consideration. Went for lunch, and started with an appetizer, of the Greek sausage. It was one long link, drizzled with lemon. Tasty, but immoderately priced at $15. My friend ordered the chicken parm w/spaghetti, which was a decent amount, and although it was priced slightly higher than most pasta dishes found elsewhere, the fact he enjoyed it, and the quantity allowed him to take some home, more than made up for it. I had the Lamb Souvla, which was one skewer (minus the skewer) of 4 pieces of lamb, peppers, onion, and tomato; with sides of seasoned rice (which was fairly bland..added a side of red sauce), and lemon potatoes (up charge). Everything tasted decent, but not warranting the exorbitant $32. I get it, meat prices are high these days, but this was daylight robbery. Two margaritas plus two desserts, brought the bill total, to $132.38. Again, the food was pretty good, and our server was great, but even though money is not issue with me, at this point in my life, you still want to get what you pay for….bigger portions or lower...
Read moreI had an absolutely amazing experience at Kelari. Saturday Evenings are definitely busy but we didn’t need to wait at all because they take reservations
We were taken care of all night by the wonderful staff- who truly embody Greek hospitality. The menu was huge but we ended up trying quite a few appetizers and sharing with the entire table. Towards the end of the meal we ordered the lamb lollipops and ended up reordering them 2 x over. These were so delicious and probably the highlight of the night. That being said nothing missed that night, every single bite we had was thoughtfully prepared and was so exciting that I forgot to pictures of the food. The octopus was perfectly charred and tender. We had fried cheese dishes which were amazing as well. The spicy feta dip is also really good- not spicy at all! Pita was fresh. The margaritas pizza had these huge tomatoes that were full of flavor and the crust of the pizza was crispy. We managed to snag a table outside on the patio and it was very pleasant all evening. Super cozy vibe with beautiful lights that definitely added to the ambiance. I can’t wait to...
