I went with my husband to the Broken Yolk. We never are able to get out alone with 2 kids but had a last minute break. Everyone i know has been to the Yolk, they either love love it or really hate it. I ordered One egg over medium (my husband specially said not runny at all, I concurred) with a grilled English muffin, ham and home fries with a pancake on the side (thankfully). My egg came out, it was clearly over easy just like my husband's. I hate saying anything but I couldn't eat it it would make me sick so I had to. I googled over medium so I didn't look stupid first lol. Over medium is NOT runny and more gelled. The waitress came over and I asked for a new egg, she asked ok over easy right? I said no, I ordered over medium and it's not. I again said, I do not want the yolk runny at all in want it solid. She goes to the kitchen. She came back a few minutes later to clarify what i wanted. Again, I said I do not want it runny I want it fully cooked. She told me it was on the grill. She brought it a few minutes later. Put it down, said let me know if that's better and walked away. I stabbed the uncooked yolk and it ran all over. The waitress didn't come back and I was immediately thankful for my pancake. The manager came over to check on this. I told her what happened and that the egg still was not cooked fully. She said ok and left. I didn't eat the egg, ham or grilled English as I intended to make a sandwich. The waitress finally came back, dropped the bill and said no rush and started to walk away. No how was it, no do you need anything, no can I refill your empty soda, nothing. I said excuse me? Can I ask a quick question? I asked (for future reference) what does over medium mean? She says, over medium is a little runny. I said oh ok so I know I should order over hard here in the future since typically it means not runny... mid sentence she was walking away saying " the owner is right there, he cooked it and can explain it to you" I was trying to tell her i couldn't eat it since it was not cooked correctly. She was very rude. I was not unhappy until that moment. The manager was walking by so I explained about the egg and how i felt the waitress was rude and I was only trying to ask her a question. She informed me that she would speak to the waitress and that she should not have been rude to me. Well. I was sitting right near the bar where all the waitresses AND the manager were and heard them all talking about me, customers could also hearand staring. How embarrassing it was having to get up and walk out with all eyes on me all because I questioned something. Im the one that received my food incorrect....twice. I was never rude, never raised my voice I just asked for clarification and was badmouthed. I'm not saying my entire experience was horrible. I'm not giving one star clearly. The lady 10 minutes though, really...
Read moreLet me start by saying I've never had a bad experience or bad quality food at this place. It's a great place to go with family and everyone is always friendly. But until things change or come down in price I could not see myself going back there.
I've been going there since the previous owners and it was Alicia's regularly but lately the up charges on the bills and the amount they charge in general for breakfast is insane.
We had a party of 3 this past weekend. We ordered a meat lovers omelette, a western omelette and a steak and cheese wrap along with a root beer, soda water, and coffee. Nothing extraordinary or extravagant. Food came out great. The issue was the bill. For the 3 of us before tip it was $70!! The prices of the omelettes were fair as they came with a side and toast as well both around $15 and they were not overly big. Here is where the cost got a little much the steak and cheese wrap was $19 and it wasn't big, it had peppers and onions, it came with a only small side of coleslaw for that price. That same dish I have seen come cheaper and with fries and coleslaw. The waitress asked my wife if she would like anything on it and she said mayo. When the bill came there was a an upcharge of $1.50 for mayo. Also the soda water which is just carbonated tap water. Did not come from a bottle was $4.50. Her meal together was over $26 with tax and I wish I had a picture of it to show price vs. value but it didn't occur to me until after the bill.
Bottom line: Be careful what you order and pay attention to the prices and ask if there is upcharges for different condiments or beverages where you wouldn't think there would be. $82 with tip for breakfast for 3 people is a little much imo, unless everyone got...
Read moreMy co-workers and I decided to try this place out for the first time. We worked 3rd shift and got off at 630am, and we thought this place was already great because they opened at 5 am. We walked in and waited at the door for a good 3 to 4 minutes. The lady server was at the bar with a group of male customers and had seen us come in. After that 3 to 4 min of waiting at the door, she then tells us to have a seat anywhere. We looked at the menu for a bit, and the menu didn't have pictures, which was a downside because I like to see what the food I order would look like. She comes over and asks what we want? The tone of her voice and the way she asked was not in a nice or friendly way of asking. Since it was our first time, she could have told us what was popular or if they had any specials. Nope, none of that just rude with a little attitude. My co-workers and I ordered our drinks and food. We had Mini mimosa flights on a paddle tray, stuffed French toast with cream cheese filling and strawberries, ribeye and 3 eggs, and the crab cake asparagus Benedict. The French toast was delicious and appeasing to look at. Everything on the ribeye plate was good except the rib eye itself. It didn't look like a ribeye. The cut of steak was small, thin, and dry. I asked for medium, and it was well done. The crab cake Benedict was good. The hollandaise sauce went well with the moist crab meat and the asparagus. The price of the food was decent for the amount of food you get. I would definitely go again and try other dishes and drinks. I just hope next time we get a different server or the server we had could be a little nicer and work on better customer service. The place was also decorated cute and matched...
