I hate writing bad reviews for a brewery, but was not happy..We have been to Jolly Pumpkin in Ann Arbor many times and Love there 1 of kind beers.. So myself ,the wife and her friend were excited to come up to beautiful area to sit outside and look over the bay while while having a great beer and bite to eat. Much to my surprise when the waiter informed us that the menu up front changed and is extremely expensive and this was probably a better option.. So when he went to seat us,I asked if we could be seated at least by a window,as there is no outside seating in back.He stated he would have to check if there was a server available..Really??There was plenty of servers.. After we ordered our beer,I decided to stroll around while the wife and friend checked out the menu..I walked up front to chat with waitress to see if we could just bring are beer up there..She was very friendly and informed me that wasn't a problem but the menu would be changing in about an hr or so..What??I informed her what I was told in back from waiter.Yes she was surprised and seemed upset..It was dead up front, tables empty..We should have left then, but decided to not be rude and make best of it.. The food was nothing special, the turkey grinder is a grinder,my wife ordered the steak, way over cooked and for the price, should have just ate up front..Why there is no biergarten seeting out back in such beautiful setting ,I don't know? But makes us more upset that we were deterred from sitting in front, which is one of the main reasons we came here..We can drink Jolly Pumpkin all day long at home..Thank heaven there beer is better than there service..The Jolly Pumpkin left a bad taste in our mouth and will hesitate to return or recommend...There are other breweries in area that also have great beer and great outdoor seating..Sorry Jolly Pumpkin, but not so...

we came in earlier tonight and did not have a great experience. We sat down the server was very kind and we ordered the truffle fries and then we both asked for the pasta and the cheddar soup. Once we received the fries it had no flavor, then the soup came out and it was awful and we both had a fly in our soup and my partner had a hair too. We then received our food but with only 1 meal and two plates. We both stared at each other and the server walked away. We were confused because we both said we wanted the pasta but we just rolled with it. We began eating and honestly it wasn’t that good. About 10 mins later I found a black hair in my food and that was the last straw. We asked an employee for a manager and she came over and asked what the issue was but not very friendly. We explained there was a hair and fly in our food and we’re not upset but just wanted to let her know and she proceeded to say “well I can’t see it but I believe you” as I’m pointing towards it. She also said “you have some good eyes because I can’t see it”. I should’ve just taken a picture and left but me and my boyfriend are both servers so that wouldn’t be fair. I said I would like the bill and thats all still being as friendly as possible. She said “we’ll just take it off” as she’s walking away not even taking the plate with her. Our bill was $9 after that and we tipped our server $20 which would’ve been still 50% of the total bill. I’m not upset but this is the second time I found hair in my food from this establishment but at least last time the very nice waiter offered us drinks and gave us a dessert. We understand that it wasn’t the severs fault for the food just miscommunication on the second dinner. Just wished the...

Terrible experience! Bad food & bad attitude! Ordered ribs & perch dinners. 10 more minutes & the ribs would have been jerky! Dried out, over cooked, burnt & inedible. We stopped an assistant manager to let him know our feelings. Instead of saying I'm sorry can I get you another slab or something else he says...nobody else has complained. As if it must be us and not the ribs. The breading on a piece of our fish was soggy, mushy & unappetizing. We told him that as well. He took the ribs & the one piece of fish and never returned. The waiter, who handled the issues the best, comes by, apologizes & asks what else we would like instead of the ribs. We order another entree and 10 minutes later we're asking our waiter if we are ever going to get our piece of fish back. The next thing we know is the head manager comes by with it and says, with a pissy attitude...here's your fish well done & crispy and walks away. What's ironic is we asked for our fries to be crispy which they weren't. It's definitely a tourist trap. By the time you drive there, wait an hour to sit down to a bad meal, you're a few beers in and don't want to leave to find a better place. If this place weren't in the location it is with the decor it has it would fail. Piss poor attitude by management bc they know they have you 'trapped'! Have a beer, see the place & get out!!! Or only order mashed potatoes bc...

- food was really good, fresh, and had an amazing flavor. The pasta bolognese is definitely recommended. - service was quick and staff were friendly. The server actually had a sense of humor and was joking around, that's rare these days and a nice change from what I'm used to. - place was clean and organized - plenty of parking onsite. - supposed to be a haunted building. - overall a great first experience and will be back again when visiting the area. Highly recommend this location. History of the place if you're interested: At first it was an inn, but now it has been transformed into a restaurant. The legend goes that G. Stickney became sick, and J.W Stickney hired a nurse to take care of her. When J.W Stickney died, he left his money to the nurse and the inn to his wife. G. Stickney became upset because she thought that her husband and the nurse had an affair, so she hung herself in the elevator. Rumor has it that she likes to knock pictures and mirrors off of walls, turn the lights on randomly and appear in mirrors and pictures. Sometimes when you go to the bathroom the lights flicker, people take pictures and they see a shadow in the background and glasses will randomly fall around from the research I've done on this place.

My wife and I came here for the first time in summer of 2019. It was busy on the night we went so we spent our wait sitting on a hill on their property looking over the road and enjoying the scenery of lake Michigan. When we got in, we sat upstairs and enjoyed our meal. This summer when we were in Traverse City, we made a point to head there for a late lunch. Surprisingly, it was backed up at like 3pm when we were there but we wanted to eat there and we were ok waiting. We sat on the hill and enjoyed the view some more. Our server was friendly and quick when we asked for items and the food was good. I feel like the prices were pretty reasonable and the portions were nice. They served some chips when we sat down that I don't recall from our first visit. They had an interesting taste... Turmeric? The first couple I didn't know what to think but they became addicting. My wife had French onion soup and salad and enjoyed those. I had the wagu burger and enjoyed it. The cheese seemed maybe a bit over cooked but was still good. All in all, both times, we had a good time there and like to return. The first time, I picked up a bottle of their bourbon for my dad who enjoys bourbon and he enjoined the bottle.

My wife and I are frequent fliers of the Traverse City area and have been to Jolly Pumpkin a couple times! Cool Halloween/Hogwarts type of atmosphere! Service has always been good for us when we go! On this visit we did a beer flight to start with a cup of the Cheddar Ale Soup. The soup was really good, especially with the rainy and cold weather that evening! For our meals we ordered the White pizza and the Chicken + Pasta. The pizza was out of this world good! Flavors were on point and the pizza dough is my absolute favorite. So warm and soft! I’ll get this pizza every visit. The Chicken + Pasta was a different story. You can tell the dish had been sitting for some time waiting for the pizza to be ready. It was luke warm when we received it and honestly it reminded me of a cold pre-made pasta salad you could get at your local grocery store deli area. Hardly any chicken in the dish, pizza had more than the pasta dish did. Flavors were just okay. Again, cold and tasted pre-made. Honestly I forgot to even take a picture, I just wasn’t impressed. If you try Jolly Pumpkin definitely get a pizza or two.
