Itâs so nice to have a new place open up not too far from me! Penn Hills was definitely in need of a good Mexican restaurant, and although it is unfortunate the Greek spot moved to Irwin, itâs great to have another quality restaurant in their place now. I got to try out their birria tacos with consommĂ© and tres leches cake.
Their birria tacos are usually only available on the weekends. They were very, very good! Great portion for the price. In fact, their entire menu seems to be very fairly priced, and they are generous with everything. The tacos themselves werenât the best birria I ever had, but they were still very good. Lots of meat and cheese stuffed within them (3 tacos per order). The shell of the taco is somewhat wimpy and not that flavorful, but the consommĂ© and stuffing on the inside more than make up for that.
The consommĂ© was some of the best Iâve had. Actually, this consommĂ© is more like a soup than just a dip. It has bits of shredded beef, chickpeas (which were delicious), and a hearty broth for dipping. The tacos are way better with this. Itâs the perfect amount of salty and savory. Absolutely huge portion!!
Finally, I also really enjoyed their tres leches cake. Iâm pretty sure they make this in house. It was well soaked through and the perfect amount of sweetness. Probably one of the better tres leches in the area. Topped with a little fruit as well.
All in all, this is a great new spot. Iâm glad I got to try it out. They make the food efficiently and the people are relatively friendly, but the inside is quite small. The food is definitely worth giving a shot, especially...
Read moreCame here with my girlfriend because she was craving Mexican food. I've had Mexican food before and not really been that happy with it. Going here has opened my eyes to something: America is full of "Mexican" restaurants that are really just fast food restaurants pretending to be authentic. This place was simply amazing!
I'm someone that's ALWAYS on my phone, but I didn't look up from my giant burrito a single time, and my phone stayed in my pocket the entire time. It's been like 20 years since I was a kid and was truly amazed by food... Today, I experienced that wonderful feeling for the first time in my adult life.
The only reason I give Service a 4/5 is the way the staff is organized... The people cooking were also the people taking orders, and since we came in in the middle of a wave of orders that they were trying to finish cooking, we ended up just standing at the register for a good 8-10 minutes before someone came and took our order. Now, mind you, I'm not accusing the staff of deciding not to pay attention to me. They were all doing their best, they just had more customers than I think such a small restaurant is designed for.
While waiting for them to take my order, I saw orders FLYING out of the kitchen, and they kept the quality high while maintaining a high pace! Once we put our order in, our food was prepared quickly and was...
Read moreMy husband and I wanted to try a new spot we've never been so I found this restaurant on Google. We went today 8/10 on a Sunday.
When we arrived it wasn't busy so we ordered our food to dine in. I will mention that the restaurant gets hot especially when it's hot outside. They had one door open so there was a slight breeze but not much.
The lady at the counter was nice and asked if we had any questions. I ordered a chicken taco, a shrimp taco, rice, refined beans and street corn. My husband ordered chips and guacamole, chicken taco and a beef taco.
The chips were delicious đ. The tacos were seasoned well and great as well. I loved the rice and refined beans. All the food taste authentic and good.
My only complaint will be the street corn. I took one bite and knew something was off. It taste like the corn may be spoiled or old. That's the only thing that I would not buy again.
Overall we enjoyed ourselves, we will definitely be back but next time we'll pick up the food and...
