Great spot for relatively cheap Greek food! Some of the items are a little overpriced, but most are great! I have tried both the tiropita, spanakopita, and chicken souvlaki. Everything has been tasty, but the portions for the chicken vs pastries are vastly different!
Both the tiropita and spanakopita are quite large. There is a special where you can get 2 of the same pastry for $5. They are quite buttery and moist on the inside, which I like. However, there is also a lot of phyllo dough on top, which made it crunchy, but did not add much flavor.
On the other hand, the souvlaki is extremely small! It's just a piece of chicken slightly larger than the size of my index finger. It is grilled well, though, and has a nice charred flavor. But for $4.50? Well, you could almost get a while rotisserie chicken for that price!
All in all, this is a pretty good Greek spot in Penn Hills. There aren't many other places in the area serving this cuisine, so check it out. It's small and quaint on the inside, but has some pretty...
Read moreBeen here a few times. The portions on the gyro are fantastic! You'll eat a gyros worth of meat off the thing before you can pick it up. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a 5 star, or ever going back, is the sauce. You don't get the classic cucumber sauce you expect with a gyro, you get their own sauce. I asked if I could get the regular classic sauce, and they looked at me like I insulted them. I equate that to having a hankering for a Big Mac and hitting a McDonalds franchise that decides to put their own sauce on it instead of Big Mac sauce. When I crave a gyro, I can get the same taste in one at any gyro shop but here, and for this reason, I get my gyro fix 3 blocks away at Arby's. It's far less meat, but the taste I look...
Read moreI've been a repeat customer for over 5yrs whenever the hankering strikes for an authentic gyro. Always get the most bang for the buck here as the average gyro comes packed with enough meat to easily make two. The menu also offers a variety of other items fro gyro salads and falafel to the sweet sweet baklava. Up until this last visit we've always been delighted with quality, taste, price, and portions; however on this most recent visit our gyros were a little dry and sparcly topped. I could barely find the tomatoes and onions, and had it not been for our purchase of additional tziki sauce, there would hardly have been any. I understand that everyone has an off day and I will not let one disappoint sway my longtime experience of this being a 5...
