First visit 02/16/20. Was here with a friend from the area. They said this place has been here for awhile, and their family has been here a few times. But my understanding is that it may be under new management. Our experience was kinda troubled. We arrived at different times so we got there first and was confused about the parking. Didn't see any signs about parking on side of building, back of building and on street beside the restaurant. Once in there a friendly person found us a seat while we waited for our friend. Now mind you this is past 7pm. Our friend came maybe 20-30 minutes max late (I'm buffering a assumed larger time). They naturally gave us water and menus but after we all were there we didn't see anyone help us for I would guess 30-45 minutes (this is after everyone was there). After ordering we didn't get appetizers until maybe 8:40-50. Around 9pm the dinner arrives and no sooner do we eat and yes we did a little talking but probably at 9:05-10 we were being rushed to leave because they close at 9:30pm. Now this is an isolated incident but I wasn't sure if it was our fault or them. I'm not trying to bash but I bearly got to start my noodle/soup dish before they gave us to-go containers. I'm hoping the next time we visit it'll be further away from closing so we don't feel rushed. I'm not sure if they let people go early because the restaurant wasn't crowded. It just felt uncomfortable sitting there waiting then rush to go. They generously allowed me to take some pictures for you to see.
The one side of the restaurant to the left is what most people have been posting. But there is another room to the right (with a low light pink theme). Both decorated nicely. They do have handicap accessible ramps and I think the other door to the right is at parking lot level. They spacing between the tables is fairly nice considering how small it looks like from outside. The staff is polite and respectful to us in general. We didn't have any dishes to send back or wrong orders. We did ask for separate checks but they either forgot or didn't want to accommodate us. We manually had to pull out cash and pay with credit (splitting). My first experience may just be an off day for them here
The food was decent (for the bite we actually consumed). My dish was kinda unique and I wanted to go outside my wheelhouse picking a dinner here. I couldn't put my finger on it but it tasted kinda strange, but I attributed that to the unfamiliarity with the dish. The appetizers we had kinda were just 'okay'. The table got calamari, triangle tofu, steamed vegetable dumplings. None of them screamed wow but all I can say is they were edible (a bit bland for me at least). The calamari was a huge disappointment. We were sure it was a store bought product (from a bag). We could almost say the same thing about the dumplings but we could be wrong. I mean they all almost felt reheated not freshly made. The dinner was more of a high point. The only reason I have to tell you all this is because when you're paying the prices we did, we kinda hoped it would have been fresher. If I compare this to a similar restaurant in Philly, it certainly does not compare equally. We still want to come back for dinner but maybe not the appetizers anymore.
Overall I think everyone had an average time (hence why the stars). We do plan on going back and letting them know what happened and what we think (maybe they can point us to something better on the menu). We certainly want to encourage anyone to give them a try, but with a HUGE warning for price. I'm not against spending more than 12-17 on a dinner but when the appetizers are half that amount and are not fresh (store bought), I really don't think it's acceptable. Asking for this maybe too much considering the circumstances of the area (meaning, we didn't find a lot of Asian restaurants in the area). Certainly want to give all restaurants equal opportunity to work with us. We all tried not...
Read moreThis is a gem of a Thai place in the middle of...Langhorne, of all places. Came here on a Saturday night with a party of 4 adults and 1 toddler and they were able to seat us immediately, in a semi-private alcove no less.
We ordered four entrees, a starter, and two desserts. The starter -- thai sarong, or basically a shrimp fried in wheat noodles -- was okay: the shrimp was luscious but otherwise pretty similar to other shrimp tempura, with a slightly crunchier exterior. For entrees, we got: crab pad thai -- excellent, noodles had great chewy texture and the crab was decadent tom yum noodle soup -- wish we had more soup but the flavor of the broth really packed a punch, four fat shrimp and lots of veggies pad see ew with beef -- beef was a little on the tough side but flavors were spot on, with great noodles; not too greasy massaman curry -- yummy curry served alongside carrots, potatoes, onions, etc.; chicken was a little dry and the curry a tad sweet, but generally tasty
Now, the desserts were BOMB. The coconut custard was truly special -- three gelatinous, custardy steamed coconut cakes topped with crunchy sesame. The sticky rice with crushed peanuts was very good as well -- warm, with great contrast in textures.
All in all, our bill was $100. Service was quick and friendly as well. I'd say this place is definitely a win. Come here for very solid Thai food, and save room for the delightfully...
Read moreMy family and I decided to try this place the other day. The atmosphere was inviting, food was flavorful, service was decent but the portion sizes were ridiculous! Collectively we spent a little over $100 and none of us had any food left over to take home, which is very unusual for us considering our baseline appetite. We were left unsatisfied, the least to say. Each dish felt like a sample instead of an actual meal. I noticed some other reviews had the same complaint, however I didn’t expect it to be that awful in my own experience. For instance, the portion for the mango sticky rice dessert, which is $7 should be illegal. You get about 2 tablespoons of rice and 5 small cubes of mango. Not to mention the very small servings of rice which accompanied our entrees, my children ordered soup and it was also ridiculously small. We are all adults and the servings felt like kids menu sizes. I honestly feel that the value of the food should reflect in portion, amongst other things. Ingredients like rice and other components are very inexpensive, there is absolutely no reason why this restaurant should be serving miniscule, meager portion sizes to customers. For the price point we spent, we expected much more generous servings. This place has potential, but insufficient portion sizes will never fulfill the...
