Pollos el gordo — Restaurant in Pensacola

I've been stopping by here for take out once a week or more since it opened. It's great to not have to run across town for some excellent chicken. We've had the carnitas, asada, and al pastor. We've had burritos, huaraches, sopes, rolled tacos, and of course, the chicken. It's juicy, delicious, and flavorful. I've come by when it was busy and everyone in there seemed to be having a great time. The open kitchen makes it easy to watch them HAND MAKE the corn tortillas, which are so delicious I keep thinking about getting a tortilla press for home.

My order is never wrong. The folks answering the phone are always pleasant. And if I'm not greeted when I come in, it's because it's busy, which is just fine by me. Food is great. Staff is good. It's on the way home. If they are out of something you order, they let you know promptly and offer alternatives....

People writing the 4 and 5 star reviews must really like hot sauce. So far two dishes I have got there and two tines I was let down. First trip I saw they had a meat spit spinning around and I wanted a taco with that. There is no ground beef here. Well they didn't cut any meat off the spit they instead had some portioned out already. It was dry like it had been stored ,sliced up, in the fridge. Second trip was today. Ordered what was listed as "tacos". For three bucks a piece I got a tiny tortilla with an overload of cilantro and onions and dried out pieces of meat. Absolutely 0 seasoning on the meat. It’s supposed to be something like a soup to dip the tacos in, but all I got was red colored oil with 5 chunks of SOMETHING sitting at the bottom! I ordered the Tacos De Birria, the tacos tasted like they were old! My stomach was messed up later in the middle of the night! I paid $18 with a $2 dollar tip because I’ve been there before with coworkers and had the Fajitas - I hate paying a lot of money for food that is effed up!!!!
