The decor i feel is what you would expect for a New Orleans Style restaurant with a good looking bar to make any drinker happy. Not a fan of the Video Gaming in the dinning room it feels out of place where it's at. Walking in there wasn't a sign or hostess station so didn't know if it was seat yourself or wait to be seated (it's a seat yourself place as far as my experience goes). The first thing i notice on the menu is the "Love for the Locals" at the top listing the Local sources they use which i feel is a great thing.
Appetizer- For our appetizer my Wife and I went with the Gator Bites-Marinated alligator tail meat breaded and fried.Served with tartar sauce or pepper jam. i wanted the Pepper Jam and my wife wanted the Tartar sauce which lead to a $0.75 up charge for an extra sauce. The Gator Bites are $12.00 while the potion size is about right for an appetizer the price about the same as an entree. The Gator Bites themselves are very good packed with flavor and a nice crisp breading however when you dip them in the Pepper Jam it takes that flavor to the next level. My wife didn't really care for them in the tartar sauce so she kept stealing my pepper jam so you may want to just order a second pepper jam which has a sweet and a little spicy flavor.
Wife's Entree- My wife got the Catfish Po-Boy without mayo with Tartar sauce on the side and House Made fries. The description is Farm raised breaded in pearly meal and fried. The Po-Boy is a pretty big sandwich cut on a Bias with a large portion of fries. They put the tartar sauce on the Po-boy so either server or cook missed that one. My wife loved the Po-boy she could only eat maybe about half be fore she got full. She said the fries where ok but nothing special. Catfish Po-Boy $12.00
My Entree- I went with the "Mud Bug" Po-Boy-Lightly breaded and fried crawfish tails and i got it Cajun style with kettle chips. My plate was overflowing with chips and Po-boy (made me smile when i seen it coming). My Po-boy was packed with delicious crawfish by themselves they are very flavorful i even dipped them is some of the pepper jam i had saved from the gator bites and that was even better. The kettle chips are good and go better with a Po-boy then the fries i feel but to each is own. The Mud-Bug Po-boy $14.00
Dessert- My wife surprised me with a slice of Bourbon Pecan Pie. The pie has a nice hint of bourbon taste coupled by the pecan and whipped cream very good. Bourbon Pecan Pie- $6.95 add vanilla beam ice cream for $2.50
Our total bill came to $53.42 which is fairly pricey for 2 people at lunch. The food is very good but the price will keep me from coming back often. But if price isn't a concern this is...
Read moreLast night is the last time I go to Poboys. We go there multiple times throughout the year with our friends and family. Therefore, we went for my boyfriends 30th birthday as he likes the food. We arrived and were sat outside immediately. We ordered our appetizers and food quickly and waited over an hour to get our 2 appetizers for 6 people. Unfortunately, we waited another hour and then had the staff come out and tell us they ran out of noodles. Which we understand can happen when a place is busy, but to wait 2 hours to notify us that one person who ordered the pasta won’t get there food is upsetting. The individual that didn’t get his food was the birthday person. We were told the rest of the food was being plated and would be out in the next 5. Therefore we waited and then 10 minutes later the waitress provides the check with the 2 appetizers. We had our whole family there. We arrived at 6pm and left around 8pm. Our grandma didn’t even get any food as she didn’t want any appetizers and stated she would wait for her food to come out. She waited 2 hours to leave with nothing from Poboys. The lack of service was appalling and to have to find a place to eat at 8pm on a Saturday that wasn’t already full and booked up was extremely difficult. They should have provided the food we ordered that they did have available, but they stated they hadn’t even started cooking it yet. I am absolutely never going to recommend this place to any of my business applicants or friends ever again. Worst service I’ve ever had and to make matters worse, it was a place we have recommended to friends, family, military members and business applicants. It seems there has maybe been new management or changes to the servers, but the servers shouldn’t be lying to their paying customers. We paid for our 2 appetizers and left. Having a business that staffs members with integrity is everything! If you forgot to put our order in tell us that and give us the courtesy of notifying your customer of your mistake. Mistakes happen, but allowing your paying customers to leave without food after 2 hours is unheard of. 10 out of 10 extremely disappointed and will not...
Read moreOk today's adventure was to PO-Boys in Peoria IL. Originally I was planning on Sweetwater Kitchen and Cafe but the weather made me think shorter drive. We have been here before and enjoyed their food, but it has probably been 3 years since less visit. Another person in the group listed their tenderloin on their top 10, so I decided to check it out today. Start with the pluses... Great Beer selections! If you like Cajun food/ seasoning, this is your place! I will suggest not getting the tenderloin. It is new item for them and as a person who tries them often still room to improve. Started with the Creole Shrimp Deviled Eggs with Bacon, okay but at the end the spices hit you! YUM My husband had the Cajun Pizza. It was good he said. Pre made crust with toppings thrown on top and baked. The crust could have been a little crisper. Just an extra 3-4 minutes would have made it great. So now for the Tenderloin... in the menu it said it comes with an Apricot Mustard spread, hey can I get that on the side? YES So 20 minutes later we get deviled eggs. 40 minutes later get our food. So I have this annoying habit of rebuilding my sandwiches as I like them. Find a burnt bottom bun, no apricot mustard on the side, and it also comes with pickled onions. Nope just a thick cut of red onion. The Tenderlion is a butterfly porkchop that was run through a tenderize. The breading was just barely holding onto the meat. Kettle Chips as the side. Some were crispy and some you got the soggy part of chips. I did ask for a second bun hoping not to be burnt, but it came out okay but soggy/ damp. I even had the bartender / Manager feel it to know what I was saying! The manager/ bartender made the mistake of asking how is everything? 😆 Got a earful, but he did take Tenderloin off our bill. He said this was not normal, but it is a new item for them. So if you go here ...stick to the PO BOY sandwiches and anything else Cajun. Those are...
