I recently had the absolute pleasure of visiting Lorenzo’s Pub and Pizza, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I stepped inside, I was enveloped by a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly lived up to the sign above the bar: “The Gathering Place – Where Friends Become Family.” That sentiment truly came to life during my visit, and I left feeling like I’d discovered a new go-to spot. The ambiance at Lorenzo’s is a delightful mix of rustic charm and modern comfort. The wooden bar counter, paired with sleek high-backed stools, gives off a cozy pub vibe, while the soft lighting and thoughtful decor—like the vintage “Lorenzo’s Italian Pizza” sign and framed sports jerseys—add a touch of nostalgia and character. The dining area is spacious yet intimate, with neatly arranged tables that make it ideal for both small gatherings and larger groups. String lights with little pizza slice decorations added a playful, festive touch, making the space feel warm and welcoming. I also couldn’t help but notice how spotlessly clean the entire restaurant was—everything from the hardwood floors to the countertops gleamed, and the bathroom was pristine, which is always a huge plus in my book. The food was nothing short of fantastic. I ordered an Italian sub, and it was hands-down one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. The bread was perfectly toasted, with a crisp exterior and a soft, chewy interior, holding together a generous stack of fresh ingredients. Layers of ham, salami, and pepperoni were paired with crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, thinly sliced onions, and just the right amount of seasoning. A tangy dressing tied it all together, making every bite absolutely delicious—I couldn’t stop raving about it. The sandwich came with a side of golden, crispy fries served in a parchment-lined basket, perfectly seasoned and accompanied by a small cup of ketchup for dipping. Every element of the meal was executed with care, and it’s clear they take pride in their ingredients and preparation. What really made my experience unforgettable was the service—particularly the bartender who served me. He was around my age, and his genuine kindness and enthusiasm were infectious. From the moment I sat down at the bar, he greeted me with a big smile and immediately struck up a conversation that felt effortless. He was incredibly attentive. It’s rare to find someone who can multitask so seamlessly while still making you feel like a priority, and his passion for his job shone through in every interaction. He even recommended a few menu items for my next visit, which I’m already looking forward to trying. The little details at Lorenzo’s really stood out to me as well. The bar area had a great selection of drinks, with neatly arranged bottles of wine and a variety of beers. There were also thoughtful touches around the bar, like a sign advertising a “Mug Club” and another with Wi-Fi information, which made the place feel both community-oriented and practical. Having the Pirates game on added to the lively atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal while catching up on the score. The staff worked together seamlessly, creating a smooth and enjoyable dining experience from start to finish. Overall, Lorenzo’s Pub and Pizza exceeded my expectations in every way. The food was outstanding, the restaurant was impeccably clean, and the service was nothing short of exceptional. It’s the kind of place where you can tell they genuinely care about their customers, and it shows in every aspect of the experience. Whether you’re looking for a casual meal with friends, a spot to grab a drink and watch the Pirates game, or just a place to enjoy some fantastic food, Lorenzo’s is the place to go. I’m already counting down the days until I can return—five stars...
Read moreLorenzo’s Pizza does only pickup now as they cannot get enough people to do deliver for them – as told to us by their owner – but they do offer another unique service which makes it worth a stop. They have an outdoor seating area alongside the building and they arrange for musicians to come in and play. So, they turned a pizza joint into a pub!
We went and tried them on a recent night. It was a nice, warm, Saturday evening and it was a great experience overall. We met the owner on the way in and chatter with her for a few minutes. Then, we went around to the side of the building and found some seating. While there is a window with a sign that says “Order Here” they actually had a waitress running around -and I mean RUNNING! This woman was hustling to take care of orders, deliver food, deliver drinks, and take care of a bustling crowd. She was always on the move and kept apologizing to us for keeping us waiting. We did not mind as we saw how busy she was and the wait times were actually not that long.
Menus were on the table. So, we decided on what we wanted, ordered, and listened to the singers until it arrived. We ordered some beers, breaded mushrooms, Jalapeno poppers and a Spinach Calzone. That was also the order in which they arrived. The beers were properly cold. The two appetizers were deeply fried and on the hairy edge of being greasy. The calzone featured too little spinach for our taste but had a satisfying combination of ricotta and mozzarella. The crust was a bit too thin in the middle so the edges were too fat. Also, it’s a good idea to let it rest for a few minutes before cutting into it. See the picture of the cut one that I’m including to see why. These complaints are actually relatively minor as we really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the whole scenario, and will definitely be coming back with friends to enjoy a nice evening...
Read moreThe good: great delivery service. On time and friendly. I ordered a large cheese pizza 1/2 with green peppers. The peppers were very fresh. The cheese they use on the pizza is excellent! I mean, really good mozzarella. Markedly different than others in the area IMO. Maybe too much cheese on the pie for my liking.
Now, the sauce- almost non existent. I mean, I could see sauce in my pizza, but hard a hard time tasting it. Even my two young sons commented on the lack of sauce. I need more tang, more tomato flavor. Pizza was cooked medium. I prefer more bite, more crunch. The crust was soft and warm. It wasn’t underdone, but another minute or two and it would have been to my personal liking. Not bad, just not my favorite.
All said, I did enjoy this pizza and will certainly order again. Everything was fresh, and I can see why many people like this neighborhood pizzeria. I may ask for extra sauce next time, perhaps tell them well done crust. Scale of 1-10, I’d say it’s a 7.3. Good pizza but some room for improvement. I’d really like to...
