I’ve been to this establishment several times. My favorite part about the restaurant is that it’s black owned! Black people have such a bad reputation for being “nasty” and this restaurant is nothing short of great. Every one is kind and assists you rather it be your first, second or even third time here. I usually come for the same items every time: fried fish, baked Mac, candied yams and broccoli. The food is a little pricey but what’s not pricey these days. For the quality of the food, I do not mind paying the price. I tried the breakfast item menus for the first time recently. I ordered fried fish, shrimp and grits. I was also able to try their bread pudding! It did not disappoint. My only constructive criticism was the grits, they were bland. The young muslimah at the counter offered to makes my grits again and they were great. I’d recommend leaving the grits bland (for diabetics) and also asking customers if they’d like seasoning.
I rated a 4 out of 5 because I had to go elsewhere to use a bathroom and the grits…Orher than this. Love love looooove you guys food! I’ll...
Read moreCute cafe with amazing food and hospitality. The staff was top notch on greeting, ordering and overall hospitality. I ordered the creme brulee french toast top with strawberries/bluberries and it was delicious. I never had to use syrup. The flavor profile was definitely hitting. The grits were ok. They became a bit watery. The beef bacon was good. The orange pineapple drink was tasty. Yet, it was way too sweet for my palate. ( I ended up cutting it with some water. My sugar intake is minimal.) I enjoyed my visit and the jazz music playing on the flat screen made, waiting for my food so pleasant. That was a nice, hilight. I even made a reel just based off of that. Looking forward to coming back for more food!!
(Positive suggestion: Allow Black + Planted to add some floral decor, whether silk or real flowers to add some color to the establishment.( Maybe in that corner by the window counter. )Also, maybe some 1-2 pieces of artwork on the walls. I'd love to see it be a bit warmer...
Read moreI seen this restaurant on Instagram and decided to try it out. My husband and I drove almost 2 hours. It wasn't what I expected. I will say the food was delicious, if you know me you know I will travel to try different food. I will say I won't be back to this place only because of pricing. I never been to a restaurant this expensive, not even a five star was this expensive. We bought 5 crabs they were 56 dollars, crab fried rice, lamb chops, a side of greens and 2 drinks spent around 180 dollars. Never again. It's crazy because who can afford that in the area the restaurant is in. They should move to Hollywood, or cut staff so they don't have to pay because the price of the food is through the roof no exaggeration this restaurant is NOT for the people with the price of that food on top of that the packaging could be better for...
